I’d think a shiv and a boot dagger would be fairly close. There may in fact be more shivs than boot daggers.I had a thought today. If one was going to trade a boot dagger for another CPK, what would be a roughly equal trade? I don’t think the shiv would be. Maybe a fancy HDFK or a dagger-ground utility fighter?
Edit: I’m not looking for trades. Purely a 4am “why am I awake?” thought exercise as I was trying to get baby back to sleep.
easy answer; keep the dagger. It has no equalI had a thought today. If one was going to trade a boot dagger for another CPK, what would be a roughly equal trade? I don’t think the shiv would be. Maybe a fancy HDFK or a dagger-ground utility fighter?

Sold where do I payI'll do a flipper on bearings at some point down the road, but I'm going to base my first production folder off of the Sebenza that I love so much. However the pivot, which is the weak point, will be integral to the frame. The folder won't be heavy or look over built or be bulky but it will be both very strong and durable (not the same thing) and tolerate the rough use and lack of love that I tend to dish out. Eliminating a lot of the joints and utilizing precision fits between components that aren't usually keyed will give me a very robust design.
I got a fancy super high precision coaxial indicator and noticed that one of my Mori can actually mill a diameter rounder than my lathe can turn it. This opens up some possibilities in design and construction that is not currently being exploited.

I'll bet it's gonna be a frame-lockNathan...this is bladeforums...no one's going to be happy if you don't leave some room to complain.

Oh shit!My wife told me to make a cautionary post: CPK's are sharp.
Side note: don't kick a K18
Her note: have medical glue on hand.
Also, apparently grey shaggy rugs hide K18's.
Elevate, apply pressure...then glueGlue doesn't work well when you're bleeding a lot. (Ask me how I know.)
behold, the Stubenza!just got off the phone with my buddy, Stuart. He just replaced the blade on his knockoff Sebenza- he was complaining about how bad edge holding was. I told him he was lucky he didn't spring for the real thing, since it probably wouldn't fare much better...
Had it been an option, I'd have saved myself 15 stitches last time around. Believe it or not, some ER docs actually know more about emergency medicine than even you.Elevate, apply pressure...then glue![]()
That's Stubendous!behold, the Stubenza!

Oh damn...I thought it was you that kicked itNathan the Machinist She did not say that upon being cut. I think it was more "ouch" or "owie" (it wasn't, it was "you stupid idiot, who puts a sword on a grey shaggy carpet? Get me a towel I'm bleeding!")
She works at the children's hospital in our city. She was calm (not happy) and directed me rather eloquently on how to assist her. It was.....deep. I imagine this is what was in store for the little piggy that went to market.
