Justin. Get well my friend! I feel your pain. I just had shoulder surgery and it turned out to be much worse then expected based on the MRI. There were 4 tears repaired 2 tendons and 2 in rotator cuff plus an titaniun anchor. In a sling for at least 6 weeks and no driving. It's drving me nuts! It is so nice here right now with the fall colors and beautiful weather. Its a bummer to be grounded. BTW, hope the Tacoma is ok as well;)

Oh man. I’m not sure what is worse, one arm or one leg. Sorry to hear about it but hope you also get well soon!

Tacoma is going to need a new mirror. Sigh. Would have been way cheaper to pay the deductible than have all this time off work. Unintended consequences. Sigh.

I need some positive engergy guys!

A couple hours ago a guy driving down my street in a truck got a little too closer to my truck while it was parked on the street in front of my house. He smashed my mirror off and stopped to let me know. That’s good of him.

He wanted to pay for the damage out of pocket. I had to call the parts department and they needed the VIN off my truck to look up parts. While I was running out to the truck on the phone I tripped and rolled my ankle bad, and broke my foot. Sitting in the filthy ER now waiting to see a Dr.!

For ^+%^ sakes!!

Sorry to hear about your injury Justin. Hope you have a speedy recovery.

I'm sorry to hear about your foot. I know all the missed work is a financial strain but honestly you needed a break (pun?) to slow down before burnout and early death. Catch up on your: Archer, Mick and Morty etc... Enjoy sitting on your ass for a while, you've earned it.

edit to add: somebody needs to send him a toy train....
So a guy gave his friend 10 puns hoping that one of them would make him laugh. Sadly no pun in ten did.

And unlucky Justin! But now you have an excuse to sit at home and fondle your collection. Get better soon!

JustinFournier JustinFournier .. Did they call that a Jones fracture when you were diagnosed? Just curious.. I had a Jones fracture.. I found that I was pretty good to go as long as I walked in straight lines and didn't go up or down inclines/declines that were too steep. Stiff soles on my boots helped.. and some tight ace bandage.

lol JustinFournier JustinFournier :) . Get well soon (I have had similar breaks)! I have not noticed signs of arthritis yet, but I am waiting for that day when the cold starts to bother me in the areas where my breaks and dislocations healed up :( ...

I overheard 2 Doctors looking at my X-ray and I believe it was said that it’s a little further down the bone than could be considered a Jones fracture.

I cannot stand on it at all physically and pain wise, I’ll just fall over as my leg involuntary collapses. Found this out after I tried to stand up when it first happened. I had to hop on one foot back into the house. In the original pic you can see the bone pushing outwards against the skin.

I have been told non-weight bearing for at least 6 weeks. It’s still massively swollen and painful, but it’s only been 24 hours or so. I normally walk about 5 miles a day so it’s going to be really hard to be immobile this long. So far all I can do it get up to use the washroom and eat. I keep moving around and fidgeting with my cast trying to get comfortable. Probably should have got something for the pain.

May resort to some adult beverages this evening before bed.

Hot-cold treatment prescribed? We used to alternate in an attempt to speed up healing. Edit: Nevermind if you are in a cast. In that case, prepare for the itchies!

Looks like a removable boot to me.

I have broken quite a few bones in my time. As far as my feet go, right twice, left once, not counting the current three chips popped off of my right big toe, all metstarsels.

They heal quick, but they are painful and the wait is the agonizing part. The good part with the break being on the outside of the foot is that it will be painful to walk earlier than your body will allow it. So, by default, you will have your body allowing for some decent feedback.

I recently had a fusion in my left foot, and I went from alternating throbs of blinding pain and dull pain to near zero pain in about three weeks. From what I recall of my metatarsal breaks, keeping it elevated, tart cherry juice, and anti-inflammatory meds helped me with pain management better than just about anything else.

Heal up quickly.

alcohol is the last thing you need. Pot brownies, maybe, but I'd steer clear of any alcohol with swelling like that

Tart Cherry juice huh? I’ll get some.

Thanks for the advice. Tis’ my first broken bone despite high speed motorcycle, dirt bike and mountain bike crashes. I’ve been through emergency surgery before from a rock climbing accident but none of those while I was the income provider for my family.

I gotta research that juice to make sure I get the right one. Thanks again NJBillK NJBillK

This is the one I like:

Relatively inexpensive, and still isn't bad when slightly watered down. It is often too tart for beginners to the juice.

If I may, look for the pure tart cherry juice. Nothing else added. It is supposed to have particular amino acids in it (the building blocks of protein) that can help one sleep. Similar to the amino acid, tryptophan, in turkey. Any additives, like sugar, or even other fruit juices, are likely to jack up the sugar content, which you don’t need when trying to fall asleep. Mike

P.S. Bob’s suggestion is also valid. Some experimentation may be necessary to find the right mixture/dose.. Not that I’m an expert.

Yep,took too long to post, but the Knudsen’s looks good.
