I don't get the tart cherry juice recommendation. What it is good for in such a case? Is it meant to be a natural anti-inflammatory liquid? I know that there's an epidemic of very bad news regarding controlled substance pain killers such as Oxycontin (Oxycodone) and Hydrocodone (Norco), but are you saying that it was not prescribed in this case or the patient is refusing? Actually don't answer because that is confidential!

I’m not taking anything prescription for it. So far I had 2 Advil at dinner time based on the earlier post by @NJBillK

Gonna have wifey grab some juice soon.

I’m not sure about how edibles work in ones system, but you have to keep in mind where I work. Zero tolerance policy.

I’m not sure Advil is really a particularly powerful narcotic. I know I should be able to continue to receive feedback from my body on what it likes and doesn’t like though. That’s important to me.

Considering then severity of the break, I think 2 Advil is reasonable. The problem with this break is it’s past where all the tendons and ligaments attach, so they have literally pulled it apart. I’m not being a sissy when I say I can’t walk on it. It’s not being held in place by connective tissue so it hurts like hell. As I said there was a lump under my skin immediately afterward.

Not sure why I’m justifying taking Advil.

You may have to seriously consider taking stronger prescription meds, instead of self medicating. Your body will give you plenty of feedback. This first night is gonna be a tough. I feel for you bro :(

extra strength tylenol is about as far as I'll go with man made pain killers. There's some scary prescription shit out there that can seriously fuck your life up

All this talk of medication.... I prescribe a morning sitting in the grass, watching lambs play. It really lowers the blood pressure, and sooth the mind. This was yesterday morning.

Advil (ibuprofen), Alleve(naproxen), aspirin and Motrin (and others) are all NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). The majority of your pain will be from the inflammation. It's important to keep the inflammation under control. Ibuprofen has the best track record for reducing inflammation caused by acute injury. You should have been prescribed ibuprofen. Tart cherry juice is also supposed to be a good anti- inflammatory.

Maybe if things were a little different this could work. It’s a positive thought regardless! Thanks Brian.

I’m gonna try some Advil again today. Thanks. I have zero interest in pain meds as a rule. Maybe I’m too extreme on it but I’ve seen too many cases of destroyed lives including a guy I worked with who ended up killing himself accidentally with fake Oxy he bought on the street that caused him to OD as it had Fentanyl in it. He got hooked after a work injury and resorted to buying it on the street after his Dr. cut him off.

So even after I woke up from general anesthesia about 3 hours after abdominal surgery I dragged myself out of the hospital with no meds. My foot is a 0 out of 10 on a pain scale compared to that.

I need some positive engergy guys!

A couple hours ago a guy driving down my street in a truck got a little too closer to my truck while it was parked on the street in front of my house. He smashed my mirror off and stopped to let me know. That’s good of him.

He wanted to pay for the damage out of pocket. I had to call the parts department and they needed the VIN off my truck to look up parts. While I was running out to the truck on the phone I tripped and rolled my ankle bad, and broke my foot. Sitting in the filthy ER now waiting to see a Dr.!

For ^+%^ sakes!!

Dang! I go to the hospital for a few days and it takes me a week to catch up. I hope that you heel quickly. (OOPS. I misspelled heal. It wasn't intentional.;))

On the other hand, it's nice that the guy stopped and offered to pay for the damage. While I was gone, someone smashed the passenger side mirror on my wife's car. ($232.00) No note, nothing. A month ago someone caved in the driver side door on a friend's car. Again, no note, nothing. Both of our cars have suffered numerous dings and dents in parking lots. I guess that you just can't have nice things

Major congrats TommyGun for landing a UF. A great piece of Carothers craft and history which was missing from your CPK collection, not to mention grabbing it at a great secondary price too.

Kids, this goes to show that if you are able, willing, vigilant and patient enough; you can attain almost anything which you have set your desires on. Kudos to Mr. Gun
