Random Thought Thread

But, no, I cannot "prove" that 72 is less than 0.5% of 12,531 any more than I can prove that gravity exists, or that the moon is not actually made of cheese.

I haven't read the posts regarding this particular "randon thought" tangent but is someone actually denying that "gravity" exists?

I thought Issac Newton already proved that gravity exists back in the 17th C.

Wouldn't we all float away (or least have a hard time remaining "grounded") if there were no gravity?

Anyone have an apple handy? LOL! ;)

Do I think the world is flat ... no

I've been a few places and haven't fallen off of it yet

I enjoy thoughts on physics and mathematics , but I'm not smart enough to chime in, unless it relates to star wars , star trek or other Sci fi shows

But ever since I was little mechanical things always made sense to me ,I would take things apart just to figure out how they worked as a little kid

With your thought experiment Nathan the Machinist Nathan the Machinist , I just want to point out that at the end of the day, between the Muslim & Christian born child, one if them could be right, both could be wrong but not both of them can be correct. Contradicting beliefs can't both be true. We mustn't forget objective truth when speaking about beliefs.

What's sad is that the human race , different cultures have religions that basically break down into telling us "don't be a dick"

And as a race we always need some one reminding us not to be a dick ... because a lot of people constantly are dicks

🤣 this is true! Because people suck. Sometimes I suck. I think that is just humanity for you.

I can't bring specific religions, into this, nor my own, but just to say, there is also a lot more to say about that though

Heyyy... brother from another mother!

I used to take stuff apart too. Thought I hid the evidence of the stuff I dismantled and never put back together, but it wasn't until I was older, that I discovered my mom knew about it all along (I started by dismantling various clocks 😂).

She said, "Yes, I knew, but I figured you were learning/trying to learn something, and I didn't want to discourage that by 'catching' you". I eventually learned to fix/put the stuff back together, and around 12 - 13, had a small 'repair' business with my mom's help.

She'd tell friends, relatives and colleagues that they could let me try to fix stuff they had that wasn't working (emphasizing not to risk things that were important/valuable), eg. $10 - $20 (plus any parts costs) if I could fix it. No charge if I couldn't.

Started off fixing things like clocks and music boxes, and moved on to blenders, VCRs, Walkmans etc. Didn't last more than a year or 2, as by then I had other interests 😆

neither are going to hell, because hell doesn't exist. Prove me wrong!

Let's put it this way. I cannot prove hell. But you can't prove that the earth is a certain amount of billions of years old on your own. You either rely on or just believe the experts. Well, I also believe the expert who is Lord over hell.

Now, you might say, well prove that expert who you call Lord, to be God.

You know what separates Him to all other world beliefs and people who ever claimed anything?
They are in the ground. Dead. Bodies rotting away. But He rose!

I will happily point you to the historical, unbias, objective evidence for the resurrection.

And I have a general policy; if someone rises from the dead - I believe them!

Anyone that has ever had a window seat in an airplane knows that the earth is round.

I'm not sure I am allowed to go down that path but let's just say; I too believe in the big bang. But I just know who banged it! Science simply cannot explain how something (everything) came from nothing.

There's plenty of proof for those that search. But to answer the questions it would take a thick book to do it justice. That's why I don't get bent out of shape with people. Some people know, some people think they know, and some people don't give a shit to know.
Edit: I guess some people just don't give it much thought. I was in a hurry to get supper!
