Haha good call! I do like the looks of the PM2 but just worry about that fairly acute tip. Do you find yourself having to be careful with it?
Not even a little bit. Then again, I'm not putting lateral stress on it.

I also have, carry, and abuse a Gayle Bradley 2. Changed out the scales and took off the pocket clip. I like it much, much better than before. M4 in hollow grind is very, very nice.

That PM2 looks well loved. Very nice sir...hm Pm2...GBradley 2 (have heard only good things about that model)...back to the drawingboard for me

You looking for lightweight ? any specific task you'll be using it the most for
Nah I dont mind the weight personally! Looking for something to pair with my CPK for hikes. Something that will slice nicely!
But at the same time, my brain goes other places...do I want a LC200N model so I can carry it on the rare occasion I go fishing?
Do I want something fidgety to close or something foolproof like a lockback?
So many questions and indecisiveness keeps me from buying folders 😅

Also I am real hesitant with S30V
I had it on a benchmade mini-presidio 2 and it had micro chips from everyday normal use...🤢

Yup it is

And so many decisions lol

I'm not a s30v fan myself , I'll run 204p and similar over it if I want stainless , also like cruwear and s90v

But I'm usually cutting thin paper (similar to phone book paper) thin plastic, and round foam strips at work

Love it, that is a nice shaman 👌🏼
I am yet to try s90v or cruwear!
Hoping Magnacut lives up to the hype, I am pretty partial to stainless in general. I ordered some on the Dek pre-order. Figure that if Nate is willing to use it, it ought to be at least very good.

I also bet Spyderco do a better HT on their s30v than benchmade 😆

If you are jumping down the Spyderco hole, do yourself a favor and try out CPM Cruwear.

With what I know now, I'd probably go with Military/Manix2/Shaman or Native5 first, just like yoko yoko - My very first modern knives were Native 5 and Military, BTW, both in S110V. S110V is very stainless.

We actually don't have enough basic SDFK for this Friday sale of 40. We took inventory yesterday. So, it will be 35 Basic at 3:00 and another 5 (Signature) in a separate sale at 3:01. That will deplete our inventory of all SDFK here at the shop until the second half are heat treated and finished out. So, unfortunately, it's going to be a while before we see more of these.

Nate, I just put a message in the moderator's section regarding what we discussed earlier to clear the way for this...and to prevent any adverse action in case some ninny decides to report a "technical" rules violation. So, staff should be aware...(assuming they actually bother to read the heads up I posted.)

So, we, I mean you, should be good to go. In any case, as I said, I got your back regardless.

I like the Shaman a lot, mine is a plain one I picked up for a song a couple years ago lightly used. Sometimes I contemplate buying a “nicer” one in terms of steel or handle but it really wouldn’t be a functional upgrade as my existing one does everything I ask of it.

I am not a fan of M4 in a pocket knife. My experience with the GB was it rusted like crazy. I don’t obsessively maintain stuff like that but I also don’t do anything like use it in salt water or around pool chemicals.

If 'slicey' is the priority, a PM2 is a good first Spydie.

I wouldn't pry with the tip, and it's definitely not the kind of folder I would ever baton anything bigger than maybe thumbsize with, but the PM2 is a pretty good all around size. I agree that the PM3 is on the small side.

Likewise, the Military would be for folks who prefer a bigger folder/longer blade.

PM2 does a good job with things like slicing cardboard, making feathersticks, slicing/cutting for food prep etc.

Have an LC200N as well, solely for kayaking. Pretty much rustproof, but unless you need that level of corrosion resistance for use in wet environments (or if it'll get a lot of exposure to sweat), the other steels perform better for longer, in actual use.
