Random Thought Thread

USPS Signature tracking has been a waste of money since COVID. I sold an Axe on eBay with Signature Tracking and it got delivered to the guys porch (mailman signed the recipients name) then stolen off his porch. Then today, my two HDFK's arrived from USPS and they faked my signature and put it in my mailbox. Don't waste your money. Ship via UPS or FedEx if you want an actual signature.
Not surprised,, management has definitely been coming down on us about that but be aware Fedex and UPS are not much better,,from my experience anyway as Ive had this happen multiple times with both carriers. Hell Ive set up thru fedex for it to be delivered to a safe drop off zone so I can go after work to sign just to get notification at work that its been delivered and signed for????!!!!!. I regularly take pics of their less then steller work that I hope to someday share to a thread specifically designed to mf usps 😁

Like this one where the fedex guy is too lazy to walk the package to the door and simply lets a building with apx 20 people,,some definitely being shit heads to choose where it goes 🤞 Anyone can use a instapot,,they rule! 😁

Eta—I would think the stolen axe would be covered even if not insured? I mean you paid for a service and United States Postal SERVICE didnt provide so they should make you whole….???

Nope. Still out a package with 4 Hinderers that were insured. I can prove that they were picked up (confirmation of scheduled pickup) and the mailman (who we know for a long time) remembers the package, but they never made it into the tracking system, and I never got the insurance money back (1 year now, claim still open).

Also, I once received a package with two OKT knives (value ~$1k) like this:

Luckily, the seller had glued the knives against the cardboard from the inside, so whoever did the cut apparently was not fast enough to get them out.

I have the feeling that there is more risk of theft in the USPS system if the insurance value is high, say $1k or more.

Regarding Fedex, just yesterday we had steaks from Kentucky delivered, left out on the street in the sun (heat wave here), because the delivery person was too lazy to walk to our shaded front door (~50 YARDS).

The only reliable carrier so far has been UPS for me. The delivery guys (both in CA and WY) go out of their way to satisfy their customers. Even my dogs love them, as there often are treats involved :)

Yeah. When someone has paid for signature confirmation and then they don't get signature confirmation, the money paid for that should be refunded. But it isn't

There really should be a class action lawsuit about this if there isn't already. They probably rake in 10's of thousands a day in signature tracking fees for a service that isn't even being provided in what seems to be the vast majority of cases.

If you think the signature tracking is a scam...their selling insurance for items shipped which they make virtually impossible to collect upon is a capital crime.

It's an affront to the taxpayers and customers that keep that operation afloat.

I am fed up with my local USPS. Their constant laziness and incompetence is the reason that CPK has moved from USPS to UPS.
Sure wish I was your carrier w/ a chance to win your business back,,would go above and beyond in every way imaginable. Our local district is #7 in regards to overall performance in the Country (#1 not long ago) so reading this hurts my soul 😔

FedEx is a waste of skin and space. I will never use them again after a debacle a few years ago. After failing to honor what they said in writing, I did a chargeback and they (and their bank) still refused to acknowledge their wrongdoing. Mind you my loss was not a huge amount, but it was much more the principle of them not doing what they said they would do that irked me. My CC sided with me and they actually reimbursed me bc FedEx folks were being a-holes. Like I say, I will never use them again under any circumstances.

Phew, glad to see it was ground and not express responsible for that. Those bums give the whole company a bad name. 😁

All that really sucks man. When you say “confirmation of scheduled pickup” to me that says your carrier scanned your packages into the tracking system or do you simply mean you are able to prove that you scheduled one and that your carrier did not do there job properly by scanning said items into the system? Im sure you’re well aware and dont need told but for those out there possibly reading I personally always suggest to take your items to an actual location and having them scan it into the system and giving you a receipt. I understand not everyone has that luxury for lots of different reasons but at the very least I suggest trying your best to try and hand the item to your carrier (another potential pita I know) and make sure they scan it into the system so tracking clearly shows the package was accepted by USPS.

Few months ago back at a larger station I worked at I took a valuable package to work and left it there with the intention to scan it into the system after finishing my route. When back it was gone and I freaked. Luckily it popped up but had it not I likely would of been screwed. Since,,if ever I leave a package even in the USPS building Ill scan that fudger in. I trust everyone at my office but crazy things happen and even outsiders occasionally enter.

Also in regards to performance,,something all of us around here obviously love,,I have lots of experience shipping with the USPS. Overall no major gripes,,one time I had to make an insurance claim they came through and the item even eventually was delivered 😂

USPS delivers mostly to everyone in the USA 6 days a week,,lots of margin for error and also believe it or not we deliver to a few obtuse folks or two. Seldom are the good stories mentioned, they do happen though.

Proud letter carrier city 08010 🤘🏼

There were two packages scheduled for pickup, and he scanned only one. But he remembers picking up both, and the scheduling system confirms that both were picked up.

These days I try to have them scan in front of me, not possible when I have to be at work though. And why should I have to ?

Wish you would be our delivery guy :)
