Just got caught up with some baseball "news." Where the f*ck have I been? Obviously, not paying attn to baseball. This past week:
1) Maury Wills died.
I've never been a Dodgers fan but Wills was always fun to watch on the bases. Just not when the Dodgers were playing the Giants.
Rickie Henderson was my favorite base runner/lead off hitter in the modern era. He had more skills than Wills which is why Rickie made it to the HOF and Wills didn't but, for his time, Wills was always a concern when he was on base.
In fact, in 1962, Al Dark (the Giants' manager at the time) directed the grounds crew at Candlestick to muddy up the field around 1st base so that Wills could not get good traction if he got on base and tried to steal 2nd. LOL!

2) Aaron Judge hit his 60th HR for the year with 9 games left to play. The Yankees are playing the 9th game now. Wow!!!
Never been a Yankees fan either but you got to give credit to someone who can hit that many HRs in this day and age w/o using (AFAIK) steroids.
3) Albert Puljols just hit is 700th career HR with 8 games left to play. The Cardinals are playing the 8th game now. Double Wow!!!

Just the Babe, Aaron, Bonds & Puljols in the 700 HR Club.
Even though I am a fan of his, I don't think Barry (nor McGwire, Sosa & the others) could have hit so many HRs without being on the juice but, as a fan, it such was great FUN to watch Barry rocket balls out of the park "back in the day" when he wasn't being walked.

BTW, Wille Mays (Barry's godfather) is my favorite baseball player of all time, who was ranked by The Bleacher Report as the #1 Five Tool Player in baseball of all time. See:

May has dropped from 4th to 6th on the career HR list with 660 by Rodriguez (696) and Puljols (700) but he held that #4 position for a LONG LONG time.
BTW, Rodrigues got caught using steroids after he denied it and Puljols has been rumored but never clearly proven to having done the same. A-Rod got the same low HOF vote that Bonds & Clemens got for using steroids. Puljols will probably get in (like a lot of other suspected steroids users already in) the HOF because his use hasn't been clearly established.
A lot of people believe (me included) that Mays easily could have hit over 700 career HRs if he didn't have to play in Candlestick Park (with its prevailing winds that knocked balls down hit to left field like dead birds) and didn't have his career interrupted by military service in 1953.

I'm sure there was other baseball news this past week but this is just what stood out to me.
