Random Thought Thread

My kids' schools have been doing "Spirit Week" (I am a home schooled bumpkin so I don't really know what that is) but apparently, each day there is a theme and they dress up for it. Tuesday was Bikers or Surfers (kids chose right and went with Bikers), yesterday was Grill Dads or Soccer Moms, and today is "Throwback Thursday".

Now, from what I understand, most of the kids will be focusing on '80s, '90s, etc. I helped my daughter throw back all the way to the 1860s - she was pretty excited.

Is that an authentic Civil War era nose ring? 😊

Oh, I have to send you a PM in a moment about something. So, keep an eye out.

Yep, yep - septum piercing and nail polish are totally appropriate to the period 😁. Don't look too closely at the footwear either (no way she was going to stomp around in my size 13ish brogans).

So...here's a good laugh for our community which can use a little levity today.

I was checking something earlier and clicked on Nathan the Machinist Nathan the Machinist 's avatar...and I noticed that he had a "warning" on his account. I thought to myself, "I wonder which jackass gave him a warning?"...well, I hate to brag but...

I'm that jackass.

So, I guess it's no soup for me...two years!

(Imagine if I had hit him with points!? Oy vey.)

🤣

I'm no moderator, but no preorders for an integral dagger is almost trolling. :D

We're running all five machining centers and the big automatic grinder and the vibratory finishers, both air compressors and I just fixed the Makino where it can go balls out again (20,000 rpm CAT40 spindle hauls ass).

Checking out the new transformer. Quite a heat signature on it, which is not unexpected. Although I'm surprised to see how hot the lines are feeding the shop. I guess when we upgraded from a 25kva to a 50, they didn't upgrade the wiring. It's looking pretty warm...

If any of you are unfortunate enough to have plantar fasciitis and are told that dry needling can help, tell that dude to get bent. Don't hesitate: tell him to f-off.
I had it a few years ago, and just spent time getting over it on my own via various exercises, trigger point and massage. It was a pain.

(No pun intended.)

I walk barefoot and it always makes me feel better. I believe arch support is a scam and perpetuates faulty motor patterns that cause joint problems.
I can't agree. Superfeet helped me a lot with arch support and pronation issues on my flattish feet and Morton's toe. Now I no longer have to use them, if the sock liner is a quality one like the ones from Oboz.

And I wear the kind flattest widest shoes I can which allow my toes to spread as much as possible like they would when I walk on a log or uneven terrain. Ankle stabilizers always get work and barefoot is never comfortable except in extremes of temperature or abnormally hard and sharp terrain.
