well. I dont actually see any threads. I'm guessing that is cutting fluid. Itll help the tap cut more efficiently and help remove chips so it doesnt break on the hole.

I only use it if I'm tapping a hole in a fixture that I can't bear the thought of having to make over from scratch.

I have actually tapped a blind hole with it in a part with a 2-56 thread forming tap where the hole was too shallow and instead of breaking, the tap just punched a hole out the back of the part.
