Random Thought Thread

I saw a funny meme somewhere earlier today, can't recall where. It said "turn back the clock today, take back the country Tuesday" or words to that effect. Clever. (No matter which side you're on...to keep from going down the partisan road here.)

There is.
along with days and days of early voting and absentee voting.

there was ''record'' early voting turnout in Georgia this year. iirc there was some concern for the validity of their count in the previous Presidential election?

idk what that implies.

I'm probably just tired and cranky because it was so cold this morning and i didnt see any damn deer.

it's like they KNOW its hunting season today.
🤷‍♂️🙄🤨

There wasn’t.

But 220,000,000 plus people voting on only one day is a logistical nightmare. I don’t want to stand in line for hours on end to do something that takes five minutes. Same reason I don’t go to Disneyworld.
Now if we had three or four days of in person voting and everybody was assigned which day they vote well ahead of time then maybe it could work. There would still be problems.

Edited to adjust number for VAP

I just went to Disneyland in August. $130 per person and $20 for the Genie+ (Fastpass). So it was $750 for my family to go there for just a day. The most disappointing thing was that the Star Wars rides were terrible.
Did the same thing a few years back. Most of the Star Wars stuff wasn’t even open yet. My boys were disappointed. I smiled through it all but decided then it was not money well spent.

$20/ea for the Fastpass ain't bad. Isn't Cedar Point's Fast Lane Plus pass like ~$105/ea? (The std Fast Lane pass doesn't include all the top rides).

Tried CP's FLP for the first (and so far, only) time the last time I was there a few years ago (just 2 of us). OK, I'm sold. Even at that price (I think the tickets themselves were $45/ea?).

Compared to previous years, waiting up to 4+ hours in ONE line for a particular ride (the Mean Streak one year. Absolutely not worth it for that ride. Never got on that one again. The Millennium Force another year), the first ride we hit was the Valravn, which had just debuted the previous year. We rode that one 3 times in 15 minutes. Decided not to go for a 4th ride in a row, based off the mean mugging we got, jogging past the regular line for the 3rd time in a row, when the folks in the regular line had only advanced maaaybe 15 yards. 😅

In previous years, I think the average total number of rides for the whole day (arriving at ~11am and leaving at closing) was maybe 7-8, and generally that meant riding the Top Thrill Dragster and the Millennium Force once each.

Getting to ride those more than once with a standard ticket was uncommon, due to the loong lines (and the fact that those rides had a tendency to go down, anywhere from 15 minutes to 1+ hour during the long wait in line, at which point we're trying to decide if we should wait an undetermined amount of time, "Well, we've already been in the line for 1-2 hours... would suck to get out of line, only for the ride to start back up soon after, and have to start at the beginning of the line again...".

I think we squeezed in 22 (24?) rides with the FLP, with the longest wait being ~30 minutes for the Millenium Force (which we rode 4 times). So about triple the rides for triple the price. Considering it's a once in a while trip; it was definitely worth it to me.
