For me? Personally, no. I use my EDC to cut through the steel banding straps on pallets with the use of a hammer. I enjoy a knife that I don't have to be careful with. For you? I guess it depends on what you're looking for in a knife. They're both very durable with good edge stability, excellent edge retention, one is stainless and has slightly higher wear resistance, the other is only stain resistant and almost can't be broken.
Much appreciated Nathan! :)

I'm generally not a fan of the beers where they very plainly made it taste like X, by flat out adding lots of X. Thankfully this seems to be limited mostly to Milkshake IPAs and Stouts. Basically desert in a can. I don't mind a little fruit addition though.

When I did a Google search, this possibility came up.

Yesterday, I and probably many of us drooled over the Shiv and Boot Dagger listing. After a slight debate and agreement w/ my beautiful bride that we should continue saving for retirement and other such necessary yet boring things, I did not post “I’ll take the Shiv, please!”
Immediately after, I ran to my truck and raced to the store to buy scratch tickets. All I needed to win was $1,350. I’d then post.
Unfortunately, I only won 20 smackers. Even though I scratched and scratched those tickets as fast as I could, I’d still have been 3 minutes late on the Shiv. Dammitallanyways !!! Am I the only one that suffers this way?
THANK GOD MY FIRST DEK1 WILL BE IN THE MAILBOX TONIGHT ! 🤪

…AND THEN THERE WERE TWO (2). !!!
Much appreciation to Sagandavis for reluctantly parting with the DEK1. It will be cherished and used for its intended purposes (EDC and self-defense, if needed). I owe ya a solid, brother.

Dang I just read up on all the magnacut posts

Very very awesome!!!!

Can't wait to get some CPK magnacut!!! Like I mentioned before I use my magnacut mule all the time in my kitchen and really enjoy it

I have not finalized a hardness yet.

People need to remember, that hardness is just a number. It's a useful number but in my current stack of test samples both the best performer and the worst performer were both the exact same hardness. What matters is the ability to maintain a fine edge in normal use and shrug off gross damage in extreme use. And that hardness number probably won't be on one extreme or the other.

I am also having some difficulty repeating some of the higher hardness numbers that have been published. I am not a fan of running an extremely low temper (for a number of reasons), like below 300. I don't like running below 400. And so far, the hardest thing I'm testing is 62 and it is not the best performer.

I'm a full point below the published numbers creating the six control samples.

This is still a work in process. I had thought we would be delivering Magna Cut in the 62-63 range, because if it was 4V we would be starting there and going higher. This is the problem with coming into a project with preconceived notions rather than just working the process and seeing where it shakes out.
Does the fact that magnacut is so new make things even more difficult on your end ?

And also I've assumed running a low temper leaves a chance of screwing up the temper in use... not sure if I'm close to correct (my wife always tells me I'm wrong ..... and i usually am lol)

Come on .... nothing wrong with a kitchen knife.

I love cutlery, despite not being much of a cook. They got me on this one because it matches the Ebony cleaver they offered as a BOTM last year or the year prior.

Well, kinda'. I believe the cleaver is executed in their 420HC. This "Chef's knife" is 12C27M Sandvik. Apparently, they're grooming the 5th Generation (*Josh Buck) for the throne, and he seems to have a liking for the Sandvik stuff. His first design (*the "Gen 5") is offered in the same steel.

The hollow grind of this Chef's knife is throwing me a bit. However, admittedly, I know nothing about knife design(s). I only know what I like, and what works for me, by being a lowly end user. Despite that, I'll be elated to add this offering to my cutlery drawer and to use it for my horrendous cooking efforts.

Hollow grind? Yeah, that would throw me a bit too on a dedicated kitchen knife.

Right?

I have a 931 (*their "basic" Chef's offering) with their basic PaperStone scales. As far as I can tell, it is also hollow-ground. (*Maybe another owner can correct me on this)

I've never had any issues with it, even with something like cutting cake. As far as meat and veggies, it's a "slicer" like most of my Bucks. It blazes through stuff with zero effort.
