I have not finalized a hardness yet.
People need to remember, that hardness is just a number. It's a useful number but in my current stack of test samples both the best performer and the worst performer were both the exact same hardness. What matters is the ability to maintain a fine edge in normal use and shrug off gross damage in extreme use. And that hardness number probably won't be on one extreme or the other.
I am also having some difficulty repeating some of the higher hardness numbers that have been published. I am not a fan of running an extremely low temper (for a number of reasons), like below 300. I don't like running below 400. And so far, the hardest thing I'm testing is 62 and it is not the best performer.
I'm a full point below the published numbers creating the six control samples.
This is still a work in process. I had thought we would be delivering Magna Cut in the 62-63 range, because if it was 4V we would be starting there and going higher. This is the problem with coming into a project with preconceived notions rather than just working the process and seeing where it shakes out.
