Random Thought Thread

When I was a Freshman in High School, Jack London's "To Build a Fire" was required reading...

The lessons and tragedy of this book stay with me to this day.

*If you haven't yet read it, it's right up there with J.D. Salinger's "The Catcher in the Rye", Rawls' "Where the Red Fern Grows", Lee's "To Kill a Mockingbird", Rostand's "Cyrano de Bergerac", and some of Shakespeare's stuff.

**Do yourself the favor of cozying-up to a nice/warm fire and enjoying this book.

Is it odd I consider pizza a food group?

I need to unsubscribe from the JapaneseChefsKnife newsletter. Every time they send me an email, I want to get another fancy Santoku or Gyuto.

I really need to join some kind of Knives Anonymous group. I wish I were kidding.

I hate to break this to you, but your situation is not unique...and you're asking a bunch of addicts to assist you with your plight.

Yeah, that's the ticket...

(Now, unplug your device, disconnect the internet and don't come out of the corner until you hear Sadie barking at Nathan.)

🍻(This will definitely not help.)

🤣

Speaking of enabling, I just wanted to mention this...

There's a guy on the Forum...I believe he goes by the handle "KenHash"...who seems VERY knowledgeable about all things "Japanese knife". I'm talking steels, Makers, production years, regions, etc., etc., etc. I don't know if he's Japanese or not, but believe he resides in Japan.

Anyhow, as far as getting the addiction monkey off your back, I don't think he'll be much help. However, he seems to be a really good dude who is happy to give his opinion on Japanese knives to help someone with their purchase. If you're ever on the fence about something, it may be worth your time to try to correspond with him.

Yep, Ken's a good dude and very knowledgeable. He has a website about Ichiro Hattori (hattoricollector.com), and I got a mention, as he used some of the pics from my CS History threads. So at least there's one good instance of my name on the internet!
