  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Question ya'll: what knife scale should I make next? What wood?
thanks.
You can get some pieces of African Blackwood from Bell Forest products. It's quite cheap and doesn't need stabilizing. It is great to work with. The only issue is that some pieces are more brown than black. You can ask for a particularly black piece, but also when you polish it to a fine grit and apply paste wax it gets much darker.

Who knew me and Ernest Hemingway have so much in common lol
I've mentioned in the past that I sold his widow, Mary, a handmade lapstrake, copper tacked, cedar Adirondack canoe back in 1975 or 1976. She had me ship it to Mariel and Margaux Hemingway in Ketchum, ID. (I was working at Abercrombie & Fitch back then in the backpacking and mountaineering department.)

She told me that "Papa would have liked you". Proud moment for a 23 year old.

🤨

you need to just write a book.

eta
have someone just sit down with you and record hours and hours of conversation and just see what you all get.

Ha.

No, I don't think so. But thank you for the thought.

(The only time anyone ever recorded hours and hours of conversation with me was when I was a young pup wired up and doing UC work on various organized crime and 1% motorcycle club targets in NYC and Long Island for the better part of a year.)

Trust me when I tell you that in the realm of actual action heroes I'd have been fortunate to have come off the bench.
