That is cruel torture......

I hope your taste comes back soon....a full beer is a lonely one
You and me both. It's funny that some things I can smell and taste and some I can't.

Yesterday my wife and I were walking the dog down to where the mailbox is on the main road...and friends have a small farm with pigs across from it. My wife was saying that the pigs stank yesterday and I couldn't tell at all.

Yet other stuff, I can.

Whatever. It is what it is I guess. I can't complain.

So at my last annual physical just a few days ago, I was talked into accepting the anti-shingles vaccine being almost 6 months or so away from my 60th. While there I also took the flu jab, because like why not? To the conspiracy theorists among you, I was already a walking / talking chip factory with all the previous Covid shots and boosters so no biggie to me! Anyhoo, this fooquin Shingles shot induced the worst reaction later on that night with severe headaches and chills, far worse than anything I had experienced with the Covid ones! MoFo!

Ugh! thanks for the heads up. I was hoping that after the first "chip" works its way through, the second one would be easier and painless to implant but OK. I'll probably overload on Tylenol the next time ;)
I’m glad you are taking care of yourself in your advanced years. However, I was playing a round of 18 with your doctor at the club last week and, as per usual, your name came up. He said while he appreciates you being proactive about your health care, he would like it very much if you would stop scheduling yourself for a prostate exam every week. He also said to tell you that no matter how many times you request it, during said exam, he is never gonna smack your ass and call you Sally, so please stop asking.

Marc, you’ve always had this fascination with closed spaces and then wanting to get out so I’d say that you do so and embrace who you are and the inner you yearns for!

Word to the wise, My Kaiser doesn’t do that for prostate any more. It’s now blood tests and for the colon j wealth, ColonGuard kit once a year through the mail.

What I miss this week? Had a catastrophic failure at the data center for University of Washington. Kind of been working round the clock. Happy Friday! I think todays a short day after I make sure every thing is stable.

Something worth considering about ColoGuard;

Might want to check with your insurance provider, but a lot of them cover one colon test. If the ColoGuard test shows something questionable, you'll still have to get a colonoscopy, but if your insurance only covers one, the colonoscopy is considered a 2nd test, and may not be covered, as opposed to just getting the colonoscopy and having it covered.

Shingles vaccine can be pretty brutal, but a heck up a lot better than getting a shingles outbreak. Seeing grown men crying from pain, suicidal thoughts from unrelenting pain despite pain medications (they don’t really work), or people lose sight from it is not great. I hope none of you ever have an outbreak.

This! And be aware that cologuard does not detect presence of polyps which are able to be seen and usually removed (unless very big or too many) during colonoscopy. Almost all colon cancer starts from polyp, so imho it makes much more sense to get the scope and see what is there. It is the same as sharpening a knife prior to needing it! Much more proactive.

Wasn't "SR-101" 52100? Or am I mixing that up with something else?

(I should add that I've long been a fan of 52100 and have many knives with it, folding and fixed. But it's a different animal than Delta 3V)
I’ve read that it’s a modified 52100. I really don’t know what that means though. What makes you a fan of it?

Easy to sharpen. Takes a screaming (fine) edge. Holds it reasonably well, depending on who did the heat treat...also whether custom or production.
It's a good steel. It does need some attention if in an environment where it might oxidize.

It has had many adherents over the years...from master smiths at the forge, to those who build blades via stock removal.

Whether it is best for any particular application is subject to discussion and debate.
