^ hovering overhead? More like heading up overhead, LOL. Who knew we had Johannes Kepler (Jr.) among our mix?

Jest aside, I love cosmology and my current favorite astrophysicist is Professor Brian Cox. That MoFo has the rare combination of looks and brains plus his mannerism being very engaging as opposed to our own Neil deGrasse Tyson who is an utter hot mess, LOL. Sadly, I am way too dense to understand the math side of things but I love the history of it all.

ETA: have you noticed that some physicists also seem to be very talented musicians? It seems that if you are good at mathematics, you can also understand music but I have never seen it the other way around or else Tommy-Lee, for instance, would've won the Nobel science prize for physics! I wonder if Nathan is good at music? He has the looks for it ;-)
Reminds me that Queen's Brian May had obtained a Ph.D in astrophysics in 2007. Wikipedia states his pre-doctorate studies included advanced physics, mathematics, and applied mathematics. Smart people!

I'm still curious about MagnaCut...having never experienced it. (Magna-curious? Is that a thing, now? LOL.)

One of these days...I suppose. Hopefully sooner rather than later. (Not a nudge, Nathan. Just opining.)

Same here. I have not ordered anything in MagnaCut to-date because I rarely order anything else anymore but CPKs, and when I had the chance to preorder one in DEK3, I chose to go with the Sultan of CPKs, the indomitable D3V instead. In fact, nothing I saw in that video from Nathan a couple/few months ago that made me regret my decision if I could only elect to go with one steel version. I may just wait for a CPK in MangaCut if & when Nathan does the projected CPK-Kitchen pattern.

I'd like to try it in either a folder or something in EDC 2 size. Somewhere that it could be employed in everyday activities to see how it performs.

I imagine with all the different steels around here, I wouldn't notice any significant difference in normal applications. And that's why I haven't rushed into it, while that knowledge still doesn't put a damper on my curiosity.

We're knife addicts...not apologists. (Hmmm, that would be almost as good a signature line as the one I already am using.)

I'm still using my magnacut mule in the kitchen , I like it.......takes a nice edge and seems to hold it about as long as 20cv , I've hit bone (that's the only kind of toughness test I've done) and no chips

Now this makes me wish I had bought the Seiko Brian May LE watch, that had a dial mimicking the wood finish on his guitar "Red Special" (which I believe he or his dad built).

I recently bought a Les George "Magnate" in Magnacut this winter, but haven't had a chance to use it yet; but this summer I should be able to compare it to the UF2 in D3V that I just picked up off the exchange this week. If I recall from CPK testing, their D3V was more durable than the Magnacut blades they have been testing, while looking for the best blade profile, edge, and HT for Magnacut to make them (everyone) happy.

At the risk of someone calling Mme Curie a dude, here is a nice one I came across this morning:

Solvay-L.jpg
I got invited to a Solvay meeting in Belgium a few years back that ultimately got disrupted by covid. I remember thinking that we'd be a pretty sorry bunch compared with some of the famous early meetings.

Ran to Lowe’s early this morning to grab a new bathroom faucet. Got the broken one replaced in the wife’s bathroom. Decided to sprinkle more moss killer on the roof again also before it rains again. Truck was grumpy this morning, got down to 15 last night. I should of plugged her in since I disconnected the grid heater. Oh well. 🤷🏻‍♂️😁

Math and Physics minors in college on my way to an aerospace engineering degree. Yes, I’m a bit of a nerd lol. Started Physics my sophomore year of high school, and took a class every semester for EIGHT years after that. I loved it!!!

Harmonics...I guess it's a thing. (Music of the Spheres etc.) I read string theory and eventually my brain starts to ache right after I think I've grasped the nutshell of the concepts. (I'm not as smart as I once thought I was.)

I took classes at the Hayden Planetarium, was accepted to Bronx High School of Science, (turned it down), and had scholarships to study astrophysics.

I became a "Fed".

And so it goes...

Sweet telescope my man! 😎 Something I’ve always wanted to do is build a big 12-14” with some of the kits you can buy online. My good buddy I stay with sometimes out in the Bay Area (a NASA Aerospace Engineer with the Experimental Branch at Ames) has a 14” he made, and it is pretty awesome! Has a kit for an 18” truss, but hasn’t had time to build it out yet.

I just have a lowely Meade Autostar ~3” refractor tabletop that I take camping sometimes (much darker skies in the middle of nowhere), and an old Tasco ~5” Newtonian that I cleaned up, meticulously aligned, and added some much better eyepieces. It gets the job done, though I still want something better eventually (just don’t have enough time right now).

Maybe he should have won with this physics defying moment……..

Read that too fast and saw Hayden Panettiere, got to your photo and was disappointed. I gotta pay better attention.

I've really been enjoying my Hogue Deka in Magnacut. I've carried it nearly everyday since December and have only had to mildly touch it up after eating through several mounds of cardboard boxes. The scales are pretty pitiful though, so bear that in mind.
