If you have to baton a locking folder it's recommended to do it with the lock disengaged to avoid this.
How did it hold up? I made the mistake of batoning my PM2 and now it has up/down blade play :(

I lock my folder if I'm doing something stupid with it. That's what the lock is for, to mitigate risk to me while doing something stupid

I don't think it has developed any blade play. But I am not actively looking for little things to nitpick about it. It seems to work just fine so I'm not worried about it.

If it develops blade play after batoning it, I'm going to write a mean email to the guys at Shiro and tell them I can't believe they did me like that

Why is everybody else staying at home ?

Me and my wife are about to walk to uptown Maumee

Today is acoustics for autism.... Maumee shuts down uptown for bands and beer all day and into the night

Great cause!

Have fun and don’t lose anything in the river🤣

Yaaa lessons learned! What's upsetting is I had a fixed blade with me - I was just too lazy to get it.
Not all locks are created equal. Between the blade and lock, I never had the impression that my PM2 was a 'hard use' folder.

There are some folders with locks that have proven to withstand hard use, including batoning. Many (most?) of those designs have a bar that's separate from the lock. The bar takes the stress, while the lock simply locks the blade open.

BTW, it's a pity that Covid is such a polarizing topic, and tends to drag politics into it. I tried typing a long post about Virology basics (sans politics), to give regular folks some info for a little better understanding of things, but by the time I tried to post, the thread had been locked again. Oh well...

Eventually you'll come to your senses.

I'll unlock it and let you post it if you want. You're probably the best contributor on that thread

I have unlocked the thread so that you can put in your educated and experienced $0.02.

I think we would all benefit from the perspective.

I have unlocked the thread for Blue Max.

👍

Done.

Man, that autosave feature is really handy. Don't know if I would've remembered what I typed the first time (or would've typed it all out again 😅).

On a lighter note, here’s how to tactfully make fun of stupid people :)

Lol. I blame Disney. 😅

There seem to be a lot of people who think wild animals are cute and benign, like in the movies and cartoons.

Betting this guy thought he was meeting Pumbaa from the Lion King

*** another thing I found amusing about the video above: His accent sounds South African (pronunciation influenced by Afrikaaner/Dutch South Africans). I guess being African, doesn't necessarily mean you understand that wild animals in Africa (well, wild animals in general) are dangerous.
