Wow can I buy a set? Or are these only going on built knives?
I have no idea, I just did this on a whim. I periodically forget that I'm just a machinist and not a carpenter and I get this bizarre desire to make something out of wood. It's usually a bad idea...

Wow if we send a bunch of fine woods to your shop, would you compulsively make something amazing?

Can't stop saying wow! Wow

That always turns out badly. Honestly, most of the times I play with wood it turns out badly, it's complicated but it can be explained with this equation. Mori Seiki + wood = sad.

I've had people send wood before that I made scales with and then the wood warped and the scales warped and it all ended up being trash. I also sometimes lose people's stuff.

So if you want to send me some fine wood that's great, just do so with the understanding that I'm not going to use it for years, and when I do I'm going to sell it to somebody else cuz I'll have forgotten about it.

Hahaha awesome, thanks!!! Yeah it’s probably like tension in the wood that when you cut certain grains, it warps. I just read that ironwood burl explodes when you cut it. Lmao

Well you have certainly piqued my interest. :) Desert ironwood is my favorite natural handle material and I have on more than one occasion considered how to acquire/make a set for my EDC and FK (I am happy with terrotuff on the LC). If this becomes a possibility from the Man himself, count me in.

The desert ironwood looks great Nathan. Please count me in if you are selling those EDC 2 scales.

Mori + DI = :)

Desert ironwood and habaneros, what a morning introduction to the subforum. But both are hot. Years back, I used to eat big olives stuffed with habaneros three at a time. Now just looking at one sets me on fire.

But on to the desert ironwood. That stuff looks very nice, Nathan. Wood love a set, for any CPK blade! Please, lol.

EDIT: On second thought, I wood love a set that is already ATTACHED to any CPK, rather than just a set.:D

Looks like those of you who can manage to make it to Blade 2018 beelining quickly to Table 6D may walk away with some great Desert Ironwood haul. I hope to be there again with Y’all in spirit :D

PS. Just imagine Justin’s drooling face if there was only 1 x D2 Skinner with these DI handle ;)

Maybe one of the ugliest things posted here. I made this knife 3 or 4 years ago for my brother in law. Before he was my ex brother in law and I wanted his skull as a drinking mug. He somehow got the weird vibe that I didn't care for him much anymore and gave the knife I made him to his oldest kid (my oldest nephew). It's pretty beat up and a bit dull now. 1084 steel, and my version of 'tooling' at the time was tracing over some patterns for gutters with a ballpoint.

GrogMeister, I think that you cheated yourself by not following through with your knife making aspirations! You easily could've given this young fella who goes by the name Nathan Car...somthing a serious run for his money. I hereby name this knife of yours the Freddie Mercury half-'stash EDC pattern :D
