> 200x smaller than visible light today.

To put it in perspective, a football field has around half a billion blades of grass.

A modern microprocessor has > 100 Billion transistors, i.e., the number of blades of grass of more than 200 football fields.

Now, get >> thousands of these talking with each other, and that's what AI can run on :)

Manufacturing and machining matter ....

I believe there are something like 16 billion neurons in the human cerebral cortex

I'm pretty sure I have a few that aren't connected to anything

And I know I have a few that are connected wrong...

In science, people are exploring the use of AI in many areas. There are some interesting successes. However, so far there are a lot of limitations. One problem we have is that people are reluctant to talk about and report those issues since they fear that people might think they just weren't smart enough to get it working. Too many people have vague sections in their proposals where they just say they will use AI. There is still a place for analytic theory.

well? what did you fucking find out? 😃

On a completely unrelated note. There are children today that have never had the joy of watching this.

I BLAME MYSELF

Feel better Dude. Heal quick
Why is Optimus Prime shilling for the competition?

Voltron was ok, but hard to beat Gaiking, Grandizer, Starvengers, and Danguard Ace from Force Five (the fifth one, Spaceketeers, was lame).

Anthropomorphizing AI is a common thinking error.

We evolved into a dangerous war loving world dominating organism and assume that AI would too. Because that is what we would do.

And maybe it will? Hopefully not?

My twin brother (the less evil genius) graduated with a degree in computer science and recently got his Masters in machine learning. We were visiting last weekend. We were all having a conversation about AI and it was pointed out that the upcoming revolution in artificial intelligence will be as significant as the development of human agriculture.

I didn't realize that you were a twin?

Fraternal or Identical?

Rather than technological advancement, I think the primary use of AI is going to be as an automated enforcer for the People In Charge. Think “social credit” scores, mass censorship and official “information” like they have in China, but carried out with an efficiency unburdened by human limitations or empathy.

The advancement of technology has accelerated but at the same time, the average person’s understanding of technology has diminished. Science and research careers don’t pay well compared to things like painting houses and posting pictures of fat asses online, and are not as popular among young people as they once were. We have so much technology at our disposal and so little understanding of it. Look at how people discussed “believing in science” during the pandemic, while the People In Charge buried the information that went against their agenda. Controlling information, controlling people, controlling wealth, these are the objectives that AI will be primarily applied to imo.
