For just $11 a month, you can help a moderator keep his refrigerator stocked with beer.
Won't you open your hearts and wallets to help keep this vanishing breed from disappearing?
The IPA Fund. Thanks to you, it works for all of us.
You never gave us an address to send payment hahahaha
I'd agree; for outdoor use. They may provide amusement, but they, bug zappers, are pretty useless according to most reports...
R U MEGet a Mossberg Maverick 88, get on ammoseek (basically google for ammo) and get around 250rds of #7 birdshot 2 3/4" shells you can get that for around $100 or less), amd still havebclosing costs for a home loan![]()
Keep it up, Max, and I'm going to put "Pedant" under your avatar. Don't test me.I'd agree; for outdoor use.
I believe Yoko was talking about an electric flyswatter, though, which is a different animal (no UV light to attract bugs, so you're only swatting the bugs you aim for).
In the warmer months, I have both a bug zapper, and a Katchy (it uses a UV light to draw bugs close, coupled with a small fan that sucks them into the trap and blows them onto a sticky pad); indoors.
What I found was that the bug zapper's grid is too wide for the small gnats and no-see-ums. The Katchy is not strong enough for the bigger bugs. By having both, it takes care of any flying bugs that get into the house.
*** If you buy/eat bananas often, and have issues with fruit flies around the bananas or a fruit bowl, placing the Katchy next to them, works really well. Unlike the bug zapper, it doesn't explode bug guts everywhere, but does an amazing job of catching all the small flying bugs.
Stuff is great. Also works good for if you have stripped out threads in a door hinge. You can fill in the hole. Let it dry, and just drill the screws back where they were. It should hold fine. You can also use epoxy or some other such. This stuff works pretty good to fill in a section on the deck that needed a bit of repair. Of course, now it'll rain before it sets.
(I used walnut which blended in decently with the deck color.)

Hey that works great too! I forgot about that trick.. nice. You literally just need the hole filled enough for friction to do its magic. Even better. You can get a wood glue like titebond and fill it like halfway and fill it in with as many toothpicks as possible like you said. That is probably stronger than trim is normally.Yeah, that's one of the recommended usages on the package, and from the reviews it appears to work decently.
(I usually fill the hole with toothpicks which I break off in the hole.)
One of the homemade mosquito traps I saw on YT, was actually pretty ingenious/cool.Not for wasps, but the mosquito magnets are phenomenal for skeeters (and some black flies). The propane along with attractant and having them battery operated for the fan is super convenient. We use 2 by the cabin and 1 at the house. My neighbor loves it because it reduces the skeeters so much.
Bamboo chopsticks are perfect for thisYeah, that's one of the recommended usages on the package, and from the reviews it appears to work decently.
(I usually fill the hole with toothpicks which I break off in the hole and then retighten the screw.)
