My favorite players were Bill Russell, Pistol Pete Maravich and Bill Walton. If I have to pick one, I guess it's Russell. All the talk about GOAT Brady, and Michael Jordan, and LeBron and Kobe and whoever you want . . . Bill Russell was EASILY the greatest winner in American team sports history.

Excellent!!!

And I just watched a documentary on Russell on Netflix , it was very good... all those battles with wilt and I always think of that pic of him smiling with all his rings in his fingers

Pistol Pete was way beyond his time, I remember watching old clips of him playing horse with Bob Mc Adoo and it looked like he let him catch up just to beat him

No Kareem?

If I'm going with Knicks players, I loved Bernard King, and of course I still adore the teams from the championship years in '70 and '73.

So many great players, I really can't pick just one guy. No matter who I'd say, a few seconds later I'd say "but what about...".

Walt Clyde Frazier!

No doubt he had panache...but from those years I loved some other guys...like Dick Barnett and Cazzie Russell. Some guys just captured your heart with the way they played the game...even if they weren't the "main guy" like Willis Reed or Clyde.

Knicks had a lot of great players then and it's been a long 50 years since they last won a championship.

Those teams had some greats for sure! DeBusschere. Willis Reed. The Senator. Earl the Pearl. Jerry Lucas. Easy to forget that the Zen Master was on the 73 team.

But I thought every New Yorker's favorite was Clyde.

I never thought you were a fan that is awesome!

I know I have at least Blues and you to talk to next year about how I swear Cleveland will be a threat in the playoffs lol

Lew Alcindor aka Kareem would be in my top ten faves for sure. So would David Thompson. And Rick Barry with his granny style free throws. And Dr. J, of course. And probably Artis Gilmore.

I guess all those guys played in the 70s = I'm an old fart. Some of you young whippersnappers might not believe this, but they didn't even televise the NBA Finals live until the 1980s. The games were on tape delay and came on after the local news at 11:30 PM. I had a TV in my bedroom and I was supposed to be asleep as it was past my bedtime, but I stayed up to watch those games anyway.
