Those were the days.
I kind of miss the days of finicky cars.
Having to know how to adjust air/fuel mixtures on carbs to accommodate the air density or altitude, having to use lead additives so you don’t smoke the valve seats, advancing or retarding timing by clocking the distributor and gapping points are a lost art these days.

Jack Ryan through the years . . .

I believe we've had SIX Bonds if we don't count that ridiculous Woody Allen spoof from the 1960s. And SEVEN Batmen, if we count Adam West and don't count those ancient movies from the 40s.

We might be able to cobble together enough superheroes for a Christmas carol.

🎵 Eight Supermen, Seven Caped Crusaders, six James Bonds . . . five Jack Ryans. Four Incredible Hulks, three Spideys, two Jason Bournes. . . . and a Shellhead in An Iron Suit. 🎼

Wow! I guess my chances to try this are getting farther and farther away each year...

That is crazy.

I remember about 20 years ago when bottles of this sat in a display case at my local ABC store collecting dust. I believe they were asking around 90 bucks, which I considered insane at that time. And apparently from the dust . . . so did everyone else. Shelves were full of other terrific bourbons like Weller, Blanton's, Elmer T. Lee, and my favorite at that time, Elijah Craig 18 YO, for a lot less money. I believe Elijah Craig 18 cost about 40 bucks.

I have no idea what happened. When the hell did all these neophytes decide to start drinking bourbon - and especially high end bourbons? But I never see any of those bourbons on the shelf any more, except Elmer T. Lee and Blanton's VERY rarely. Hell, I don't even see Buffalo Trace any more, and just a very few years ago it would line a couple of shelves. Fortunately, I still have a few bottles of good stuff - including two unopened bottles of Van Winkle 12 YO, which apparently goes for several hundred dollars a bottle now.

The whole world has gone mad.

My most expensive bottles are several bottles of the Hakushu and Yamazaki, maybe worth $200 each now - price has doubled in the past few years.
