that's a lotta booze
That is crazy.
I remember about 20 years ago when bottles of this sat in a display case at my local ABC store collecting dust. I believe they were asking around 90 bucks, which I considered insane at that time. And apparently from the dust . . . so did everyone else. Shelves were full of other terrific bourbons like Weller, Blanton's, Elmer T. Lee, and my favorite at that time, Elijah Craig 18 YO, for a lot less money. I believe Elijah Craig 18 cost about 40 bucks.
I have no idea what happened. When the hell did all these neophytes decide to start drinking bourbon - and especially high end bourbons? But I never see any of those bourbons on the shelf any more, except Elmer T. Lee and Blanton's VERY rarely. Hell, I don't even see Buffalo Trace any more, and just a very few years ago it would line a couple of shelves. Fortunately, I still have a few bottles of good stuff - including two unopened bottles of Van Winkle 12 YO, which apparently goes for several hundred dollars a bottle now.
The whole world has gone mad.
Huh. Wonder what made hipsters decide that bourbon is . . . hip. Wish they chose gin or vodka, as I don't drink those.Though there are a great many factors involved with skyrocketing liquor prices, when it comes to bourbon, I chalk it up to simply being a hipster thing.
It might be surprising, but a large percentage of the people clamoring for and acquiring small batch, single cask, or otherwise collectible bourbons, don’t even drink the stuff. Much like with collecting knives, they collect in order to flip, trade or keep on shelves for clout.
I never understood the desire to collect consumables but everyone has a “thing”, I suppose.

Truth be told, I collect bourbon, too. In my liver.
Game Two . . . and . . .I went to bed after the 2nd OT. Tkaczuk for the win.
May the best team win.
One thing is (almost) for sure...at least one of the Staal brothers will have his name engraved on the cup. (And not for the first time, possibly.) Of course, Vegas or Dallas will get a say in that.
please explain what you see here that tells you things need changingWell, went to replace the wheel hub on my youngest car... and as usual everything did not go smooth....
I'll be grabbing an axel, outer tie rod and whatever I find needs replaced on the driver side , while taking a break for his highschool graduation tomorrow
