The news reports of the raging wildfires caused smoke and smog in eastern Canada and Northeastern U.S. looks really bad, terrible and diabolical. I wish wellness and safety to all affected CPK brethren living in the region (specially the Bonny Prince Eric.S). Take care of yourselves, your families and your pets and if you happen to have paramours on the side, also take care of her/him ;)

Not gonna lie, the previous few days havenโ€™t been too bad but today is awful. Businesses that utilize outdoor spaces are closing down and most school activities have been cancelled. Itโ€™s wild to not even be able to see the hilltops!

I never saw much bagel trauma but around Christmas time we always had a couple people come in missing the tips of fingers from using those mandolin slicers

Would help my mom, using that thing when I was a kid, but I was VERY, VERY cautious with it, despite liking to see how fast I could slice/julienne the veggies with it.

I tended to make sure I always used the holder thingy (which my non tech savvy older brother couldn't figure out, until I showed him, "See the 'ears/flaps' on this thing? They're supposed to be THIS way, so they stop it from going any closer than when they reach the side rails. When you have them turned THAT way, the plastic can hit the blades". "Ohhhhh... didn't think of that").

That's what those long nails are for .... let her know when she's close enough.

Joke aside, cutting your fingers with a cheese slicer like this (a single cutting slit) takes forever to heal. Don't ask me how I know.
