Congrats on the engagement D! No going back now.

I need to rant about the USPS. I don’t get how they can screw up so often anymore. All my filters and 3 gallons of T6 were suppose to be here today, they arrived at the PO locally at 6am this morning, then went 1.5 hours east over the pass to Leavenworth. Guess I’ll see them tomorrow? 😂
Sorry to hear that but at least they went somewhere nice.
I was only there (Leavenworth) once but really enjoyed it. Stopped at a little bakery there to grab some breakfast, went rock climbing all day, and then stopped at a roadside stand for some fresh peaches and berries on the drive back to Tacoma. Had to have been 25+ years ago but I remember it like yesterday.

Wow, I didn't know anyone still did that...

When I worked at 26 Federal Plaza, the garage for our G-rides was a long walk down to Harrison St. right before West St. Oh was that a cold walk in windy winter weather.

It took me an hour to get home whether I drove or took the J train. (Met my future wife on the subway at that station.)

Yeah, NYC is good for those nasty corridors of wind.

I started driving during the pandemic. I like it now. I listen to audiobooks. Parking for me is guaranteed so that makes a difference, too. I spent years of my life on that subway. I love it but this is a nice change. I wouldn’t have pegged myself as a commuter but it is definitely handy. The city looks very different to me now.

Yeah it could of been worse! At least they got to sight see!

When I bought my Mnandi, it left California on a Friday, got to Omaha on the next Friday and by Monday was in Puerto Rico where it stayed for 12 days before getting back to Omaha so it could travel the 52 miles to my house…

I've had the same gardener for 14 years and just realized that I've paid him around $20k (month by month) over that time period for his crew to do a relatively mediocre job of mowing my 2 small lawns, trimming some bushes and picking up leaves.

So, I just decided to fire my gardener and do the work myself, which I could have done all along but was just too lazy to do so.

I already had an edger, leaf blower/vaccum and hedge trimmer and just bought myself a 20" mower and 14" chain saw (just to take down part of a large bush that my gardener's crew reallly messed up). It'll take me less than months to break even on the mower & chain saw.

All of the equipment is corded because I don't like battery packs (they run out of power too quicly, die too fast & cost too much to replace); my yard is small and I've got an 100' extension cord that's more than long enough for any job; and because I don't like storing gasoline in my house.

And it will be good for me physically to get out there to tackle those chores which still aren't more than my 72 yr old body can handle but, if I get tried of doing it, I can always hire another gardener and sell the gear on Craigslist.

LOL! ;)

I find yard work (trimming, mowing, raking) very relaxing and that is why we don’t use a yard service anymore. I prefer to use a snowblower versus having a plow cause huge berms and I get to just do my thing. I ran a brush trimmer for 6 hrs Mon at my cabin property- Stihl FS131R is a really nice cutter. The real work starts next trip in bucking and splitting birch.

if your yard upkeep bill has you depressed, don't even try to think about all the insurance you've paid into all this time and got nothing for...

I have ordered brochures from Spyderco for several years and they have arrived home without any problems. This year, customs decided to stop the shipment because it might have to pay taxes and duties. It's very funny to prove to customs that I haven't paid anything for the brochure. On top of everything, my country's post office wants €2.90 "handling costs" even though the sender has already paid ALL the fees.
