Random Thought Thread

That's why my mind went to a bad variester because I figured the higher voltage would get shunted somewhere but these machines don't have resistor banks for that. Is it designed to try and inject it back into the line? How is this supposed to work?
In the VFD world, there would typically need to be a resistor bank, otherwise the VFD would trip out on high DC bus voltage. But your controller could be bi-directional so it's able to put it back on the line.

What manner of sorcery and witchcraft is that!

I wonder if the filter capacitor is worn out? Do you think I could add another capacitor to increase the DC bus capacity?

May be possible, but now you're getting out of my knowledge base. I worked with VFDs in a previous life, but wasn't really involved in design. ETA: Guessing spindle controllers are more complex due to their higher performance.

Can you lengthen the ramp-down time?

Possibly, but it might effect the automatic tool changer timing.

I guess I'm really just wondering if this is normal, is something out of wack, and is this harmful. And if so, do I fix it or work around it

I got to do all of this tomorrow 😳🤣View attachment 2214805

That's some strange looking beer and paper napkins...

My reactor from too much beer when younger lead to an arrester

Does that help? Lol

Luckily enough I can still maneuver my job with more feel and less intelligence.....or I would be screwed

(Really wish I could help)

As long as it doesn't negatively affect your erector, you should be fine.

This might be the only place I can post this without being called insane (or not) I have been carrying this knife on me every day since I got it but I had to fly on an airplane recently so I carried I knife I was willing to lose (not this one) and I actually missed it.
