Random Thought Thread

We had an ice storm that took out power for a few days in our town and some neighboring towns. you can definitely hear a generator running once this settle down. I planted some arborvitae around the area of the generator it help with the noise. But the most telling is after dark we drove to check on the oldest lives in a different town but as we turned into his street we knew they were ok the only house with lights on. He had our old generator hook up and running with the main breaker flipped. We where able to help a couple of the neighbors hot meals.
For near 20 years I've been listening to the sound of other people's portable or (rarely) whole home generators...it's sweet music for me now as long as it's working. We are no stranger to outages here, though we haven't had any that were longer than a day or two that come to mind.

(Not like when we lived on Key Biscayne after Hurricane Andrew. That was a while.)

Same thing happened to us when we went years ago. But they said I could leave it with them and come back to pick it up. Only thing that sucked about that was that you exited on the other side, so it was a long walk back to the entrance. How long did it take you to get to the top? Was like 2 hours for us.

I waited outside with my pocket knife lol

I been a while but my best guess is maybe under 2 hours

Some times I think the younger generation will not listen to the older

They think Google and tic tok make them instant experts on anything they watch a 20 second clip on..... why listen to a person who's been through it or has done it

you forgot to add YouTube certified mechanic.

If they're actually trying to learn something, I'd at least laud that.

I'd heard about TikTok, but my first experience with it, was a millennial female trying to show me various videos of people doing those dance challenges (or whatever they're called), telling me how she'd gone down the rabbit hole, watching clip after clip for hours.

I can't fathom hours of watching clip after clip of ~15-30 seconds of random people trying to do some dance. I think my eyes started to glaze over, and brain cells started shutting down after she tried showing me the 3rd clip of people attempting to do the same dance.

I can watch Nate talk about heat treats for 15-30 minutes because I'm learning something.

Then again, I guess I had a hard time understanding people spending hours watching silly cat videos on YouTube before TikTok existed, too.
