Random Thought Thread

Sorry, I didn’t fully answer all your questions.

So far, I really like it! Well-made. Big pro is the ease of use compared to my Masterbuilt smokers (especially the gas-powered stick burner). It doesn’t have to be baby sat non-stop. I smoked a brisket in January 2022 up at my buddy’s cabin on his. It got down to -20º that night, and the smoker kept the set 210º without issue. It was nice the next day out on the lake, I could just open the app and check the grill and 2 probe temps, saving myself the 30-minute round trip on the snowmobile. Once it was done, I was able to run in and pull it, wrap the flat and put it in the cooler, and make burnt ends with the point. Back out on the ice for the final couple hours of the tournament.

Con (well-known too) is the wheels/casters suck and could use an upgrade. Not a major issue for me, mine won’t get moved around too much.
Super informative response! Thank you!

The new whole home generator is a trip.

Every Monday morning it exercises for five minutes.

Sends me an email to let me know it's running, and then another email when it's finished exercising, letting me know it's "ready to run" if needed in an outage.

Sucker is loud, but not to the point that you don't get used to it. Nice to have...now that it's installed and paid for. (We do get more than our share of outages in this area, due to the heavily forested / mountainous environment.)
It will seem a lot quieter when it’s running when you actually need it because it will be sound of pouring rain, howling wind or ext. will drown it out.
ETA: I didn’t realize how far behind I was on the thread. Slow response.

How do you not beat the you know what out of your 5 year old? It’s real hard, I want to back hand him across the room sometimes.

Save all those beatings in your mind and when Christmas comes put nothing but lawn tools under the tree for your kids. They’ll hopefully behave thinking they can get out of all that spring time raking by being on good behavior.

Watching those DEK2's remain on the CPK site for what seemed like a rather leisurely spell this morning was painful. Unfortunately, the timing just wasn't optimal for me with regards to my "knife funds" account. :(

The site is still showing a remaining DEF2 with natural burlap micarta scales!
Hate to bring up the past…
I know this seems like an obviously stupid question but I swear there is a good reason for my confusion. I SWEAR IT!
These little nuggets; are they showing up in the shop section of the site?

Here's a random thought .... ADD on dominate right now

Me and the family made a trip to NYC a few years ago.......

We went to the empire state building (this story still makes me laugh) while waiting in line I notice a plethora of metal detectors..... so like any civilized man I told my wife "put my pocket knife in your purse" she replied "what is wrong with you I don't want a knife in my purse going through metal detectors!!!"

So I stopped asking at that point...... little did my wife know....I slipped my pocket knife in her purse while she was saying no.....

She was before me in line and was stopped by security after the freaking woop de woops alarming and stuffs ..... they pulled the knife out of her purse and she gave me that Lazer wife stare........

I gave in and admitted the knife was mine ...the security lady said I have 2 options

1 give her the knife and I might not get it back

2 wait outside with my knife

I chose option 2 and she told me "out of towner
... good idea" lol

As I waited outside.....for some odd reason my wife was irritated..... I told her "I'm a hero I just saved you from getting in trouble"

I found it funnier then her lol
Same thing happened to us when we went years ago. But they said I could leave it with them and come back to pick it up. Only thing that sucked about that was that you exited on the other side, so it was a long walk back to the entrance. How long did it take you to get to the top? Was like 2 hours for us.

My random thought is that one reason I really love CPK is because this is one of the most active subforums on BF. I've been on BF for closing on 20 years. I was a freshman in college when I joined. I've seen a lot of makers come and go, and I've mainly seen bulletin board forums go the way of the dinosaur, and I've kind of joined them. Can't afford to buy new knives all the time, so it's nice to have a super active, friendly community to at least talk about them all the time.

Blues Blues in your many travels.....

If you've been there.... is a real Philly cheese steak with wiz as good as it looks or no

(My wife wants to go there just to try a original cheese steak)
My wife and I visited Philly a few years ago. We made a point to visit both places that claim to be the “original”. It was a good experience and we got to say we did it. Frankly, we have had better cheesesteak sandwiches elsewhere. But, it’s worth the experience to try it.

Random thought, I’m sick and tired of the younger generation. None of them can listen, do as they are told, and even show up to work on time/early. I shouldn’t be having to do everything all the time with my title, but someone’s got to do it.
They are mostly younger, but it’s contagious to the older generations as well…
