Random Thought Thread

Of the best 10mm carbines that may blow up in your hands, I'd put the Hi-Point in the top 3.
Actually, I saw a thread once, that surprised me.

Hi Point carbine owner had an unknown barrel blockage (squib/undercharged round didn't exit the barrel). Owner continued firing. 😬

They sent it back for 'malfunctioning'. When the gunsmith at Hi Point couldn't clear the obstruction, they cut the barrel lengthwise. There's a pic floating around the internet of the bisected barrel with... 35 bullets jammed in the barrel 😮
🤣🤣🤣

Whoa!

Although I do have a few questions...🤣

Yup! Buddy of mine bought one in .10mm. I was thinking of buying one in .9mm back when Bud’s guns was blowing them out for $1250. I know the design would have been wasted on .9mm but I sort of missed my old CX4 and just thought to replace it. Ended up doing something different altogether. Now everything is off the table here in WA. 😕

dammit I forgot about needing a 1301.

For my wallet
The reviews of the hipoint carbines have been pretty favorable. In my opinion CMMG is way overpriced. I'm not a fan of PCCs, though.

If you don't want to spend as much on the 1301, the beretta A300 is a solid option for just under $1k. Garand Thumb on youtube has a good video on it.

I've seen the A300. very desirable features for the price.
i feel though that if I'm going to spend a grand I might as well spend 2 and cry a little more right away.

the point of buying the HiPoint PCC in 10mm is to get into 10mm inexpensively with, as you stated, a favorably reviewed firearm.

I'm still torn. money isnt infinite and I've got a lot of things coming that need funding so I should stop looking at everything that is new firearms for the time being.

arrg.

Sigh. After my post about a forum of enablers...

1) I agree with carnifex knifeworks. I'm not a fan of PCCs. In short, they combine many of the cons, while missing the pros of either a pistol, or a carbine.

2) the whole point of 10mm, is that it's a powerful rimless semi-auto pistol cartridge, that has the ability to combine near full-bore .357 Magnum power, with the higher capacity and easier reloads of a semi auto.

In a carbine sized firearm, though, intermediate rifle calibers beat it.

Especially when cost is a consideration (and all joking aside, it always is), to me, a 10mm PCC is an unnecessary and somewhat pointless expense. The HiPoint 10mm PCC is somewhere just under $400. There are several 10mm pistols available around the $600 mark (with the S&W available under $600).

While 10mm pistols have rapidly become one of the most popular choices for bear defense for folks venturing where they roam, consider what your projected role/use-case would be for a 10mm PCC?

What would a 10mm PCC do better, than say, a 300BO SBR or pistol? 300BO does very well with barrel lengths as short as 8-8.5", with the ability to either use supers, or subs with a suppressor (where they literally fall into the PCC muzzle energy range).

I'd recommend saving the money, while mulling over what role you're looking to fill.

that's where I'm sitting right now. I'm kind of letting the thought process happen.

I saw something cool and I thought ''what a great idea''

haha. oh well. time to cool off.
