Random Thought Thread

Sigh. After my post about a forum of enablers...

1) I agree with carnifex knifeworks. I'm not a fan of PCCs. In short, they combine many of the cons, while missing the pros of either a pistol, or a carbine.

2) the whole point of 10mm, is that it's a powerful rimless semi-auto pistol cartridge, that has the ability to combine near full-bore .357 Magnum power, with the higher capacity and easier reloads of a semi auto.

In a carbine sized firearm, though, intermediate rifle calibers beat it.

Especially when cost is a consideration (and all joking aside, it always is), to me, a 10mm PCC is an unnecessary and somewhat pointless expense. The HiPoint 10mm PCC is somewhere just under $400. There are several 10mm pistols available around the $600 mark (with the S&W available under $600).

While 10mm pistols have rapidly become one of the most popular choices for bear defense for folks venturing where they roam, consider what your projected role/use-case would be for a 10mm PCC?

What would a 10mm PCC do better, than say, a 300BO SBR or pistol? 300BO does very well with barrel lengths as short as 8-8.5", with the ability to either use supers, or subs with a suppressor (where they literally fall into the PCC muzzle energy range).

I'd recommend saving the money, while mulling over what role you're looking to fill.

I totally agree. If you want a PCC for fun and plinking, great. If you're recoil sensitive, don't have the muscular ability to wield a rifle, or don't have the skill to accurately wield a handgun, then I can see the purpose of a PCC. If you're a collector or just think they're cool, that's fine too.

If I'm grabbing a carbine, it's going to be chambered in a rifle cartridge. The performance is night and day.

For 10mm, I prefer a handgun because it's lighter than any carbine. However, I prefer a full size handgun with at least a 5 inch barrel. That was my problem with the FN 510.

Glock 40 here I come?

oh man I need to get off the internet

I really wanted one of these, but now it’s considered an illegal gun in Washington. 15+1 of 10mm yes please. View attachment 2233591
That sucks. I hate nonsense laws like that.

I have the springfield xd-m 5.25 competition and I have to say, I'm a big fan. Granted, I bought this when the only other polymer striker fired 10mm pistol was a glock. For the price, it's tough to beat, but I think if I were buying today I'd go with the sig p320 x-ten.

Ha ha, no one can buy it now!
