Random Thought Thread

I've worked a lot of UC in topless joints. Originally, in NY, that was my first assignment working establishments owned by the mob and by outlaw motorcycle gangs. In later years, narcotics cases down in Miami. (None were of the no alcohol variety.)

I can tell a lot of stories, but I think I've yapped enough for one night. A lot of crazy shit though.
My brother was in a bad situation away from that club when 2 bikers from the biggest M/C down there stopped and backed him up. That club controlled most of the strip clubs and the girls who danced at them. Apparently my brother had been decent to the girls, so the guys felt they owed him.

I was talking with a local very high ranking member once about the rash of drive by shootings that were happening. “Those guys ain’t got no honor. If we want to kill you, we will do it face to face”. Will always remember that!

I remember when me and my wife first started dating (early 2000s) people were still getting Chinese and other Asian tattoos done....

Nobody really knew what the tattoos said
... we were at a bar and a flighty girl showed me a Chinese tattoo (I'm not fing Chinese) and asked how I liked it.... I started laughing hard and told her it said "ass donkey" in Chinese (I'm not fing Chinese)

Then asked where she got the script from... she replied "a Chinese restaurant waiter"

I replied again "your arm says ass donkey" then laughed like I knew what I was saying

My wife asked "did you know what that really said"

I replied "nope but that s#$t was funny"

We married not long after that hahahaha
Now that’s funny.
I took karate in high school from 2 guys who studied in Korea.
I decided, if I added my initials in Korean to my gi, I’d be more legit. My teacher asked where I came up with that. This was in the ‘60s, so probably the library. He explained, that might, in reality, say something rude about your sister.
I got away with it because the closest Asian to my town in those days was Buffalo, but it always made me self conscious.

Daughter #1, the other one appears tattoo free .... but you never know.

My very first job was being a driver for a Chinese restaurant. Chinese food is a social equalizer, I delivered to everybody in my 72 Beetle, from rich politicians to peep shows and bordellos. Lots of women have tattoos hidden in daylight.

I got approached by members of the most well known OMG quite a few years ago at a bar they owned (unbeknownst to me) and they were particularly interested in me. They bought me beers and were trying to invite me to a party they hosting. Didn’t think anything of it at the time. They were extremely nice and affable, but only a week later I found out that they were actively trying to recruit new members. I prefer to stay on the abiding side of the law.

I found some of the guys I rubbed elbows with to be quite personable. One even confessed to me his distress over his girlfriend leaving him for another woman. I couldn't help breaking his balls over that at the time.

That said, I was not being considered for membership. To them I was a corrupt gov't agent who they were paying off to get info, and things done, from the inside. (This was in the early to mid 80's when my agency was targeting the Colombo family and its operations in NYC / Long Island, as well as groups such as the Pagans.)

These days, I prefer to spend my time elsewhere...despite having had the opportunity to spend some interesting time with them in the past.

Having had family members involved with the traditional O.C. side, I will say from my own point of view, the cost of membership is not worth the price to be paid, and I've seen at first hand what it has done to some families. It's not particularly romantic.

Blues Blues has some of the most interesting stories I have ever had the pleasure of reading on BF. If I’m ever in NC, i need to buy you Beer of your choice, if you’re ever so inclined.

Just don't drive up to my house in a black Lincoln or Caddy...it might not be safe. ☺️ 🍻

(And thanks. We all have stories to tell.)

I'm agnostic on the topic. I didn't grow up in a Chevy household. (Though I sure liked a bunch of the models back in the day.)

I've still never owned one...though the first car I ever drove was a Corvair.

So I tried carrying the HDFK for the last week at work, unfortunately for me, it is not feasible. Too large for a daily carry when not camping or doing yard work or the like. It carries quite well for such a large knife, except when sitting in a machine, which is what I spend a large portion of my day. I will be still using this for everything else like yard work, camping, kitchen and hiking and backpacking, hunting and fishing. I gave it the old college try for EDC, that said this is still my favorite and the best knife I’ve ever owned.View attachment 2245200

I was wondering when you'd come to your senses. (Just kidding.)

CPK makes knives which are much more suited, imho, for the kinds of tasks you need to daily...as well as not encumbering your ability to do so comfortably.

But I wasn't going to say anything...

I really want to give the DEK1 a try. They are just a wee bit hard to come by. I’m also a trial and error type of guy.
