Now that is a blast from the past.look up Mike Metzner
Yup.The last time I worked out anywhere but in my own home gym was when my old agency had gyms available for us at the SAC office or at the AFB when I worked at the air wing...and we could use them during the course of our day according to our own schedule.
Having a home gym is one of the best investments I have ever made...and I've had one of some sort or other since the early 80's. I could never go to a public facility now. I'm too used to being able to work out when I want to, not waiting for some piece of equipment to be available, and not needing to wipe off someone's sweat from the bench or stand around b.s.-ing.
And his brother...Now that is a blast from the past.

Mike Mentzer died on June 10, 2001, in Rolling Hills, California. He was found dead in his apartment, due to heart complications, by his younger brother and fellow bodybuilder Ray Mentzer. Two days later, Ray died from complications from his long battle with Berger's disease.[2]
Is this recent or is is that Robert Hanson guy? When I put serial killer and Alaska together, that name comes to mind. After a scumbag serial killer here used a Python to kill a few people, the crazy allure for the already coveted gun caused prices on older ones to jump up to around $3500 here. I am a 686 and 629 nut, but love the Python looks. I hope y’all enjoy them.

I love, absolutely love revolvers! I’ve owned 20+ in my 15 years collecting firearms.I'm liking that the "Random" thread is turning into the "Revolver" thread.![]()
Robert Hansen was a special kind of crazy…. So strange driving over the Knik river close to where he hunted those girls. Up here you can be close to town but a looooong way away from roads or help.Is this recent or is is that Robert Hanson guy? When I put serial killer and Alaska together, that name comes to mind.
When I was commissioned as a Reserve Police Officer in a tiny hill country town in Texas years ago, I was told I could carry anything I wanted. I chose a 25-5 with 4” barrel. I wore a cartridge belt in addition to speed strips. There was always someone who came up to ask what I was carrying.I'm liking that the "Random" thread is turning into the "Revolver" thread.![]()
I do need that motivation, personally, and I don't have the space for my own gym. That being said, I only weight train twice a week and have four run days, where it is nice to sleep in another 20-30 minutes with the time saved driving to the gym.Yup.
I know more than a few folks who've told me they 'need' the external motivation of 'going to the gym', and that the equipment would just gather dust if they put together a home gym.
I love being able to just walk downstairs and work out, especially when I'm on a twice a day phase (lifting followed by cardio when I wake up, then a 2nd cardio workout later in the day).
