24x7 instantaneous bombardment of what they call news is not good for your mental health. I haven’t seen a full news broadcast in months and not much of it in years yet here I am living a good life.
Turning the tv and internet off and doing something productive is good for you.
Use some of those hi performance knives and post more pictures!
Now I gotta go refresh my webpage while ignoring the crap programming on tv.
Carry on

This is so true. It is easy to get overloaded from any side. I keep up with ‘news’ from multiple sources and find myself needing to just tune out every now and then. Being at the remote cabin and away from bombardment is very calming. We used to require debriefing time after certain scenarios in the ICU, I think de-stressing in life is important. Y’all stay safe.

Amen.

At any given point of the day, my "resting" blood pressure is probably somewhere around 300/200.

...and my MSN "Home Page" feed only increases that sh!t.

As a popular YouTuber would say, "Act accordingly."

Is it bad I know nothing of these people or 99% of quasi political stuff

I work.... I vote... don't watch any kind of news and buy CPKs, and drink beer and love this sub forum.....

..... the world is a happy place to me lol

(I keep my bubble small lol)
if you were to ask me, I'd say you're doing it right. From what I can see, the folks who get all wrapped up in that stuff seem in general to know less about everything. My theory is that most in that category tend to participate in an echo chamber, so no room for opposing povs and less support for keeping an open mind.

I don't personally like talking about politics or religion or conspiracy theories or celebrities because;

1. no one gives a shit what I think about those things
2. I don't give a shit what other people think about those things

I think it's best to vote for whoever you think is going to do a good job for you. All you can really go on is what they've already done and whatever you can glean about their character through their public persona- neither of which takes oodles of knowledge or a lot of time. Voting isn't a team sport; we are all, (fortunately) free to vote how we like, in privacy.

My dad keeps Fox News on his big TV nearly all daylight hours. My mother, in an adjacent room, keeps CNN on some daylight hours and half the night. Both turn the volume to 70% or greater and their tuning has a half-second delay so it sounds like a disjointed, angry chorus for most of the day. They're both kind, experienced, intelligent, reasonable, well-travelled, generous people despite the constant cacophony of conflicting instigation. But eventually it burrows its way into them and it sometimes takes a while to calm them down. I shudder to consider the level of psychosis being drummed into people who tune in 24/7.

It bugs me that they're both on and yet conflicting information - I remember when the news was objective 😡

I don't like either one as a source of news, or I have to watch both and let my bias pick which view to construct with the facts that match in both.

That's a bit before my time. Now, as an enlightened millennial, I get my news from Instagram and the 25 minutes of NPR I get to listen to each day. Clearly my methods are superior*.

*I hope it's obvious this is sarcasm, but that's hard to interpret by text.

All I'll say is that I think the bombardment of drama and divisive content in the media is deliberate, to some extent.

If you can overwhelm people enough to ignore you or polarize the public against one another (divide and conquer), then you're free to be corrupt and self-serving.

Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered. We Americans have been at the trough, gorging, far too long and we're not paying close enough attention. Rough times are ahead.

But hey....we've got snacks and Netflix....

And hell ..... if they're drinking beer in a pic..... that's an instant yes

Hahahahahaha

I don't know yoko yoko ....

Blues Blues I've mentioned how much I like grand nationals before

This is my absolute favorite custom build!!!!!

They did put a v8 in it.... but the respect and attention to detail is mind blowing

In all honesty if Nathan the Machinist Nathan the Machinist built cars .... this is what I would expect

Damnit I love this car

It's so well done you don't even notice a lot of the mods at first glance
Pretty wicked, but with how rare and valuable GNs have become, kind of a shame they sacrificed one. Could have started with a plain Regal.

as of August 1, neither Facebook nor Instagram is allowing news to be posted, shared or whatever in Canada. This is in response to the federal government passing a law which requires these 'entities' to negotiate some form of payment to the news outlets which provide this content. I don't go to Meta for news, so it doesn't affect me directly, but all the various journalistic organizations have pages and pay for advertising, so there's that.

Happy August, btw!
