Random Thought Thread

IIRC, the HDFK had 2 x preorders in its illustrious history during those leaner yesteryears, I shyte you not! One of our old friend in here owns more than half a dozen of them but I won't name names! At this rate and price trends, he will be able to buy a brand new fully equipped Silverado 2500 equipped with Duramax engine 🤣

I’ve officially stopped drinking gentleman. I’d appreciate it if you could take the drinking and beer talk to the beer thread. 🤣

Good for you Josh. I went cold turkey on alcohol consumption back in Oct 2021 because I felt that my blood pressure and general feeling of anxiety was getting a bit out of sorts and although I was never an abuser of alcohol, perhaps during the outset of Covid I had started indulging a bit too much in the stuff which was not helping my general condition of feeling sh*tty. My decision was not recommended by a physician and I had not any impending health scares, just didn't want to have higher BP and feel anxious most of the time therefore I said "eff it" and walked away from it in a spur of the moment kinda thing. I recently turned 60 and I don't feel a day over 65 and probably don't look a day over 70! The benefits have been tremendous! You can do it youngin!

Really enjoying this basic so far. Length is good, balance is good. Doesn't feel as neutral in the hand as the fk1 and am curious to see what the sig version is like... assuming I'm able to get ahold of one.

If 3 of you guys listed you hdfks for $2500 at the same time, I bet you could raise the market price from the current low price of $1500, then repeat, and repeat again, and then we’ll have the great CPK bubble of 2023
Don't give 'em any bright ideas. Things are bad enough already. Or good enough, depending upon which side of the line you're standing on.

As someone who doesn't indulge in the buying, selling and trading of CPKs, I think it's a little bit sad. But that's neither here nor there.

Recent Secondary prices seem cost prohibitive to me but I suppose I just don’t want them that bad.
What are you into if CPK isn’t your thing?

Oh, CPK's are very much my taste...and I own eight currently, with a ninth already paid for future fulfillment. That said, I'm neither tempted, (at this point in time), to sell at the recent high prices...nor would I purchase at what I consider exorbitant prices. But that's just me.

I am fortunate that my interest in knives, and the hobby of amassing more than I need, does not have any deleterious effect upon my ability to put food on the table or meet our expenses. Were that the case, my answer might be different.

As to other knives, I won't suggest any in the CPK forum as alternatives, but I think you can get some great ideas in this thread. There are some stunners there from many fine makers, custom and production.

It's one thing to ask for $1500 for a long discontinued HDFK. It's quite another to charge > 2x for a SDFK, UF2, Dek* that are still being sold or were so until very recently. It's still flipping. Just my opinion.
Though I believe its all Crazy I disagree. Someone has the ability to sit on things so it makes a diff? Hdfk was $400/500 taboot. If anything those sdfks have never one time been posted by CPK and lasted more then 2seconds. I would consider the sdfk to be one of the most sought after blades Ive ever seen.

Don't mind you selling anything, Eric, as you got your CPKs (an other people's knives) at Bladeshow. Mostly annoyed at people getting into the Fri sales and then turn around and sell the knives > 2x a few weeks later.

Not very annoyed, just a bit :)

Nothing. I really dont care what people do with their knives unless they are full of shit with stories. That dek2 mentioned recently had strange activity by the same seller, sold, reslisted, sold, reslisted,,the action not the price was what had me ultimately question. Ima post some shit to Ebay at open auction eventually so please bid high.
