Random Thought Thread

Looks like the supervisor at the USPS I spoke with on Monday and again yesterday was able to work her voodoo and get the post office about an hour away to find and send the parcel to my local P.O. as of this morning. Otherwise it would have gone back to Greenville, SC most likely.

It currently shows out for delivery...hopefully in good condition.

Ironically, I'm unable to get through this morning to thank her, though I had already done so profusely on our previous calls. (And it won't be her fault if bigfoot stepped on the package, so I'd have no bone to pick with her anyway.)

It's nice when people do what they say they will try to do on your behalf. (Even she wasn't particularly sanguine about the odds when last we spoke.)

Well crap, I guess that this tragedy was bound to happen! Pretty close to our camp so I feel terrible for the residents in the area who are under an evacuation mandate. HWY 199 bordering CA / OR.

ETA: was it M Mendoman who had friends in the area of Gasquet?

I did have friends up there. But, they sold their place recently to move closer to their kids/grandkids. I do have an uncle in Brookings that just finished building a nice house up there. I’m about 180 miles from there and we are getting the smoke down here. I too feel for the residents. It’s an awful feeling. We have had to aid in evacuations before since we have horse trailers. We got let into evacuation areas to save equine in the night in remote areas and by the time we got loaded up there was fire on both sides of the road for miles heading out.

In one of the big lightning complex fires we had close to us, Calfire wasn’t going to be on it for a couple of days, so the local firefighters called on any chainsaw operators in the area to help. I had no fire training but am an experienced chainsaw operator. So I got up early and drove 8 miles, in my side by side atv, out dirt BLM roads until I got to a place that was on fire. I couldn’t find any local fire personnel so I went to a ridge top and called the fire department. They said that they were all in an operations meeting and would be there when it was over. So they gave me some instructions and I just had to work there until they showed up. That was the first time I had experienced wildfire up close and personal. They had a dozer line in already and just wanted me to cut anything that might fall on either side and create a path for the fire. The local firefighters showed up and we worked most of the day. Then Calfire showed up and was not happy that they had civilians out there without fire gear. One of the higher ups said I had to go but first he took me to do some back burns to really drive home the point of how intense it could get. It was pretty exciting to say the least. Those people working out there in the heat, smoke and terrain are impressive. That’s got to be one of the hardest jobs there is.

Perhaps I'm missing something besides my marbles...but Jo (God be with you and get well soon) sent me the email stating I had an invoice for the recent BASIC preorder. Where is this invoice located, so I can pay it? I presumed it was PayPal, but I don't see anything there.

Thanks,
JT

Since it was sent to me by mistake, I just went ahead and paid it for you. Everyone in here knows that I'm a giver, give, give, give till it hurts! Not to toot my own horn, I'm such a mensch!

Welp...all I can say is thank you my friend! Casinostocks Casinostocks ...I am beyond words! This community is amazing 👏...but really, did you receive my invoice 🤔🤔

You'll have to excuse Casinostocks. He thinks that just because he's declared that green font = sarcasm/humor, that everyone should now be aware of his declaration. 😅
I knew it was a booby trap of sorts...perhaps a jack in the box handing me a grenade instead of a paid invoice 🤣🤣...but thanks for the heads up, I can be a bit slow 🐌

My little 6.7L Cummins has been running for about five minutes.

I think I'll turn it off and take a bath in the Rotella. Apparently, I'll EASILY cool-off by about 25 degrees...

You We are due for a refresher course on your color chart Sir! May I suggest insipid yellow? :p

For you Nathan: some of your posts as evident by the last one in The Next Sale Thread ought to be in Sage Green or perhaps in Burgundy!

  • Droll insinuation will be sage green
  • Mild sarcasm will be burgundy
  • Smarminess will be ultramarine
  • Irony will be lavender
  • Flippancy will be sunflower orange
  • Biting sarcasm will be pillar box red
  • Humour liable to cause offense will be in an insipid yellow which you can only read when you highlight it
* apologies if my colors are a bit off, as I am not known for color blindness but I was limited using the colors provided in this site!
