Random Thought Thread

Next random thought: everyone here carries nice blades. Any of you carry a keychain sized pry tool to keep you from being tempted to use your blade for something you really would rather not do but in a pinch….
I always thought EDC’ing a small pry bar was pretty ridiculous but the smaller keychain version would add very little bulk to the ring and may help out in a bind 🤔

I carry a small pry on my keychain and one on my Leatherman Micra.

The little pry is some pattern welded steel from my friend Ray Kirk, master smith. You can see it on the lower left of the image.

Found this years ago in the boat section on the bay, titanium rope fid. It used to have a rounded end that was filed down to fit electric plate screws.

Is the cuff key still needed for bothersome neighbors and salesmen? 😁
I had a friend growing up who’s grandfather was a LEO and had given him an old set of cuffs and a key. He used to carry the key all the time “in case of emergency”. This was towards the end of middle school (80’s).
Then one day my delinquent ass showed him how cuffs work and why you don’t really need a key to get out of them.
I ruined something for him that day. I saw it on his face. He quit carrying the key. I thought I was “helping”.

You're that guy I used to have to tell not to squirm around and give me a reason to shoot him while transporting him back to the office for processing.

(It's really not great when you have to transport a perp alone in an unmarked car...so I always had them sit up front in the passenger seat and would give them "the talk". Most of them didn't need more than that.)

That is what trunks are for!

That is what hogs are for!

Growing up overseas I just see things in simpler ways!🤣

I drew the line at carrying hogs in the trunk during the work day...but I like the way you think, Swearengen.

"Wu, feed Blues' prisoners to the hogs."

I am.
And I won’t go into all the details but you know how it’s protocol to cuff the hands behind the back. Well, I’m pretty flexible and don’t have any problem sweeping the cuffs under my bum and pulling my legs through so that the cuffs are then up front.
The poor rookie I was getting a ride from got talked to by three different superiors about proper protocol that day.
And just so this heavily redacted story doesn’t give the wrong impression of me. I was in my 20’s. It was game day. And it was just a disorderly conduct kind of thing.
