Some of the roads in Chicago weren't really even roads. It really was a lot like mountain biking.

Chicago traffic is nuts. Used to drive to Chicago every so often when I was in college. I always found it amusing, that right around where the speed limit dropped down to 55 mph as we entered Chicago (Dan Ryan Expressway?), everyone sped up to ~80mph

First few times, I recall seeing a patrol car, and thinking, "Whoops. Better slow down", then I realized I was the one creating a hazard, as everyone else had to zip around me, and the cops simply ignored everyone going 20+mph over the posted limits. From then, I just figured, "better just go with the flow".

*** I think FL is one of the few states where LE can actually write tickets for "impeding the flow of traffic", when someone is driving the speed limit, but everyone else is going over the speed limit.

I was actually relieved to hit Rush hour traffic on the way back down. The roads are trash and the speeds coming up would have been trouble coming back down. The trailer's about 13,000 lb and that's just a 3/4 ton truck but I'm pulling it with.

We got down to Lafayette. That leaves us 10 hours of driving tomorrow. We had to stop for rain.
