Nah I've never purchased a new vehicle and always picked up something I could get a good deal on lol

My 2014 has 87k miles on it and is worth about what I paid for it.... figured I might as well cash in on its value while I can
This is the wisest advice to young car buyers. Buy something undervalued, drive it till it's worth what you paid, sell it and repeat.

Details / specs please if you would, just outta my curiosity for older HD trucks.

2016 F-550 with the 19,500 GVWR option. 15 ft flatbed. 70,000 miles. Got it at auction for 15K.

It's 2wd, rusty and it's the V10 gasser not the 6.7 power stroke. Didn't get a lot of bids.

It was an impulsive rage buy after the troubles I had on my last trip. With this truck I could have put the machine on the back of the truck and not even had a trailer. And it's capable of pulling my 20K trailer for some of the big stuff.

And it has air conditioning.

Beautiful beautiful air conditioning.

I'll probably get rid of some of the other trucks. Keep the peace with Jo.

A big machinery rebuilder in Michigan went tits up, had a whole fleet of these kinds of trucks. My buddy Dale is in the industry and said that was a pretty good deal. I feel good about it.

In this current market post Covid, the notion of "undervalued" may just almost well be an urban myth. On the rarest of occasions, one may come across a deal that the seller is just either totally clueless due to laziness and lack of research or just a giving, benevolent and generous soul who wishes to pay it forward, both being very rare commodities in the era of access to information at one's finger tips. Sadly most seemingly undervalued and "steals" these days could be nothing but junkers and POS! I am no longer active in the business but monitor Cox's (via Manheim auctions) used car auctions (MMR) closely out of curiosity and interest. up until 5 years ago, one could get a decent enough first timer's vehicle from a franchisee's used car lot for ~ 10K (their advertised specials) but now the goal post has moved to ~ 15K to ~ 20K for similar caliber vehicles. One could also score a decent first timer's type car from Craigslist or similar for ~ 5K but these days we are seeing ~ 10K as that benchmark. As stated before, I used to be in the business with almost 25+ years of on/off experience and despite my claims to knowing somethings, I could still get slaughtered like sheep if not careful.

I can see the surface rust but that is very typical of where these rigs were located. Hopefully with this rig being only 7 years old and only 70K on the odo, it has not been exposed to deep rust too badly. Fleet vehicles also tend to get better regular maintenances so that could be a plus factor. When do you have to go to pick it up? Usually these type of fleet/city/municipality auctions give you ~ 7 days for $ettling up and picking up.

That lil shyte always manages to embed a not so subtle WTB in his posts. I give him his props for gall and if for nothing Marc is quite tenacious and very persuasive. I often eschew these pricing topics on purpose because frankly speaking, it's no one's dang business. As you have said, "the market is the market" and in other words, it is what it is. The only mild turn off for me is when people feel compelled to go at length explaining how, why and what they are offering their property up for sale. I understand the so-called street cred wherewithals by trying to be a good denizen but no one should feel like walking on eggshells posting up their WTS. Nathan is one of the coolest guys around in here but I must now pull this legendary quote from the phenom, the myth and the centaur himself:

I was just discussing this with a mutual friend, Mat - I’m toying with the idea of posting my minty 3v shiv for sale for a cool million. I figure if you’re going to be morally ambiguous in a capitalist fashion, it’s best to be REAAAALLLLLLYY morally ambiguous. That way you can afford to accept the outrage.

Been sitting around for a while messing with some of Lorien's designs one after the other and marveling at the difference of the feel in hand from one to the other.

EDC 2, Reaper, DEK 1, DEK 2.

Of the four, the DEK 2, which I am a big fan of, has the least remarkable feel in hand, yet is the one I want to grab for dealing with "come what may".

The Reaper, DEK 1 and EDC 2 all have fantastic feel in hand, each very distinct from one another based upon their intended purpose and use.

The thing I smiled about the most after this little exercise was just how well balanced the DEK 1 is. It really is remarkable. It's like rediscovering it all over again.

The EDC 2 handle is incredibly comfortable for work. I wouldn't change a thing.

And, the Reaper just locks into my hand like no other. It feels like an extension.

Kudos all around from design to execution.

(I know I'm not telling anyone anything they don't already know, and know better than I do, since I have only a relatively small group on hand. I didn't mess with any of the others I own today, FK2, Kephart, HDFK, or Sig Series SDFK.)

^^^^^^

Hey, FWIW, I had a brain cramp while typing earlier and meant to say DEK 2 and not EDC 2 in the early line beginning "Of the four". (I've made the correction.)

I've been a bit out of it today with some concerns about near future decisions which will need to be made regarding my dog. The knives have been a welcome distraction, despite my glaring typo.

I feel for you and your family

I guess I probably should have showed this video that I made of a prototype last summer when that fellow was asking about Shiv proof of life

I needed to dial in some aspects of the grip before starting profiling.

Blues' comment above about the Reaper locking into your hand made me think of it.

They are in process but are not in a state that I want to show yet.

There's no way in hell they're going to ship by the middle of next month though... 😥

Sorry to hear about you dog. That's always a rough thing to go through.

I sure am sorry E, those worries, concerns and decisions just plain suck. If you ever want/need an empathetic ear, I’m but a phone call away, 24/7.
