Random Thought Thread

I'm on a do-it-myself trend and I've been thinking of finally buying a pair of Quick Jacks for about $1500. 🤷‍♂️

It won't save me much money on taking my BMW & MB in for service, but it will make rotating tires more convenient. LOL! ;)
Quickjacks are awesome. If you can, try to get the 12v power unit. It's not only slightly faster than the 120v, it also allows you to use it remotely, without needing a long extension cord etc.

The 12v units can simply be hooked up to the vehicles battery, or can even be powered with one of those 12v LiIon jumpstarter packs.

Never would have thought the DC 12v units would work better than AC 120v but I can see the advantage if you have a track car, which I don't, but I'll look into it before making a final decision to buy a set or not. Thanks!

Very random: cop just pulled someone over in front of the house, and when the cop got out and got close to the car, they took off, hitting (more like rubbing) the back corner of a car that was passing by it all. Was expecting the cop to run back to his Explorer and tear ass after them, but nope, he just casually walked back and pulled away.

High speed chases are frowned upon these days. I suspect the LEO wrote down the license plate # &/or captured it on the patrol car's video and just relayed the info to dispatch for further action.

That part surprised me too, but there used to be a video of guys comparing the 12v vs the 110v versions, and the 12v took about 15 seconds to raise the vehicle, then they tried the 110v on the same vehicle and you could see it raising noticeably slower. IIRC the stopwatch showed about 30 seconds for the same lift, on the same vehicle.

I got the 12v initially, because of the track car, but I haven't done any racing in quite some time, now.

Pity you aren't closer (cuz the shipping would be ridiculous). My dumbass actually bought 2 sets of the 7000 ramps, to use with one 12v control unit (to leave one pair in the garage, and one pair in the trailer, as the 7000 ramps are a lot heavier and more cumbersome than the smaller versions. The setup comes with QD connectors to make it easy to take apart, and setup, so you can actually move the one (~20lb?) control unit between pairs of ramps). The spare pair is still in the unopened boxes 😝😅

If anyone has suggestions for the encyclopedia, could you send me a message? If you do I'll have an easier time tracking what needs to be done.

There was a recent suggestion that mentioned me, and unfortunately the alert has fallen off my recent alerts so I have no idea where to go back and find it...

There should be pages of alerts available

I had mentioned you as you are the curator of the CPK-Encyclopedia in case you were interested in adding the Double-Edge, Dagger Grind based on the original UF pattern under the Unique Knives category. After consulting with one of the OG's in here, he was of the opinion that since only a half dozen (maybe a dozen) of those variants were ever made, they are not their own pattern (I concur) like the DEF is. Been a busy last couple of days, but just wanted to come say I’ve been thinking about you Elliot. Blues Blues
Thank you, brother. Picked up Skyler's ashes, and cast of her paw print today at the vet. She's home...and that's good.

We went to the local shelter today and I took some young pups for a walk...but I don't have it in me to start leash training the youngsters from scratch at this point.

If I rescue another dog, it's gonna have to be a year or two old with basic understanding of commands and walking on a lead. I don't mind training them, but I don't have the energy to start from square one at this point.
