I am officially giving up: the bulk of my knife collection was stolen in my move from Europe. I, of course, went directly to the box where I hid them as soon as I saw it unloaded. When it wasn't there, I hoped I had misremembered where I had hidden them. But now we have opened all the boxes, and there's no sign of them. My wife doesn't appreciate the loss, so I am whining to you fine people who will at least understand the pain. Gratefully, I shipped the two most important ones (my pre-production DEK1 and Yarbrough) in a travel safe and put them in a double-tagged GPS-tracked and heavily insured box... Even if the movers pay for them, several others are irreplaceable. So here's to the loss.View attachment 2386806
Damn I'm sorry to hear this

That’s awful. Makes me sick. I’m sorry to hear that.

Sorry to hear that, man.

Do you think they went through all the boxes, looking for things to steal? Or could it be some customs schmuck X-raying boxes and going, "Hah!'?

He said it came down right in front of him off the cliff, he swerved at the last second, it hit the back tire and somehow lifted up the entire truck. No damage anywhere else. I went out when I got home we jacked it up. He only needs a new wheel, tires, and it smoked the back rear shock. Freaking lucky,
I am glad he is okay- and that he didn’t have an accident losing control.

A coworker of my wife a few years ago was commuting to work and a honeydew melon sized rock came off a cliff and went through the front windshield, passed between the front seats and went through the back windshield of her 4Runner. Crazy and crazy lucky!

Man that's horrible. The ease and frequency in which customs people (agents of the State) steal our stuff is just pathetic and horrible. There aren't adequate repercussions. There's not much worse than a thief.

This is the reason we put the caveat on all of our overseas shipments that we are not responsible for loss or theft. Because it is endemic and it wouldn't make sense to even ship overseas otherwise. TSA "agents" and USPS postal employees stealing from citizens should result in long jail sentences. But clearly it doesn't.

I have heard that many people traveling to shows with expensive knives will check a firearm with them. Because you're allowed to travel with a firearm. But then that box gets locked and gets special scrutiny. The gun is just there to have a box with the knives in it so those knives can't be stolen because that box is kept a close eye on. What a travesty that it has come to that

The box it was in probably flagged itself as too distinct. It was a large, heavy, Pelican case. I should have just tucked them throughout random boxes of kid toys/clothes/dogbeds haha

Is there no recourse you can take?
At least make aware the party responsible so they know they have a thief working for them.
Is customs the responsible party?
Is it possible they just flagged it and it got held up?
This sucks.
I’m sorry.

It's Veteran's Day...and I still can't get over that they did you like that. If I have something in my meager collection of CPKs that you're missing and you need to replace, just let me know. I'll get it to you.
