Random Thought Thread

I bet EMCEE EMCEE is staying busy. Lost half of my fence last night. Like gone, adios. Had 50/60 mph winds and gusts of 70-80. And I am sicker then sh*t. Which is a good thing because if I wasn’t so sick and weak right now I’d be out there with a chainsaw finishing off the rest of the fence. I’m over it. I’m ripping it all down. Probably don’t want to know how much chain link costs but that’s the only way out here.

It's expensive for sure. Sorry to hear about that. What a pain!

I know it sounds crazy, but this helps with minor sicknesses.

Mix up some raw garlic and olive oil, then put it on the bottom of your feet and wrap them in plastic wrap, then put on socks.
You can do this before you go to bed and then just take it off when you shower the next morning. It really helps.

Edited to add context: Some of the largest pores on your skin/body are located on the soles of your feed. It helps with absorption and has a different effect than ingesting the garlic and olive oil.

Livestock panels😀. I hope you feel better soon. Stay hydrated.

As much as I like to cook & eat, I found it interesting that I lost 3# (I weigh myself daily) drinking wine & just eating a lentil/lkale/tomato/chicken soup & a meat/mushroom pasta sauce over duck eggs noodles (gifted to me) for lunch/dinner over the past week.

The duck egg noodles must be the reason. LOL! ;)

PS: After some ups/downs over the past few years, I've maintained my weight on my medium 5'8" frame at 170 (+/- 5#) over the past year, which at 73 is pretty good IMO.

That sucks. It was blowing down here in NorCal too. I’ve been out clearing the dirt roads and ditches today.

How do recommend we go about that?
#notnathan
#notadoctor, but after having worked as a nurse for a few years in ER, ICU and home care:

-To avoid diabetes, eat meat, greens and healthy fats (think fish, avocados, nuts, cooking with olive oil vs canola) and reduce/avoid carbs and sugar (bread, pasta, soda, beer- sorry yoko yoko ❤️!). Move every day

-lots of things can cause pancreatic inflammation, the modifiable risks for most people are probably to stop drinking alcohol, and to stay hydrated. Pancreatitis and diabetes are different problems. Pancreatitis does not necessarily lead to pancreatic cancer.

-my wife and I have both been prediabetic in the past, and we had good luck decreasing our fasting blood sugar with a keto diet, but it's not suitable for everyone. For example, if you already have chronic pancreatitis a higher fat diet could actually work against you.

But if your doctor tells you you're prediabetic, dropping your carbohydrate intake way down and upping your intake of healthy fats (from fish, nuts, avocados, olives) could make the difference between needing to go on medication or not.

Either way, good work thinking about how to take care of yourself.

B bluemax_1 , B beeinak , any thoughts on this stuff? You guys are the medical CPK'ers I can think of at the moment 😆
