What is it with some pythons escaping and then resurfacing somewhere else outta toilet bowls???!!!

Makes for a good tale though, "There was this one time when I was on the toilet, and I called my wife to come help me choke the python. It was huge! There was a lot of tugging and pulling, huffing and puffing, a little moaning and groaning. Then I passed out after it was all over".

I have a non-random question that has nothing to do with python chokin’. What is the purpose of the rubber (there’s a softball for ya)? If it’s grip, couldn’t that be achieved by some sort of wrap? If it’s shock absorption, doesn’t that come down to technique?
I welcome serious and silly replies

Sometimes a knife will shift around a little in a hit, causing the location of the edge to shift around. You either grip harder, hit lighter, readjust between hits or accept lower accuracy.

Dan's handles are designed to index in the hand in a very specific repeatable way to improve accuracy but the material used matters too.

Rubber has good grip and has enough give that the knife can buck a little in a wonky hit without the handle actually slipping in the hand.

Rubber is a shitty grip. It's ugly, feels funky, and is basically unpleasant. I don't like it. But it's good in a competition. It's actually great in a competition. There's probably nothing better for a handle material in a race because it's more fault tolerant. This has become apparent to me in side by side testing and is reinforced by Dan's experience. It's not ideal on every knife, but it's good in a race so Dan wants some and that's what I made for Jonny and his race too.

I'm hoping to find an ebonite rubber with a nice smooth warm and grippy tactile feel that's not so mushy that fills a roll between a pleasant micarta handle, and a soft rubber handle. Right now TeroTuf is the best in-between material but it has some short comings too.

I was a bit distracted by the couch I was snoozing on so I started thinking about what 3 CPKs I could not or would not be without! I know that I post a lot of banter type responses but I don’t make too many threads! So...

Obviiisly, it depends on one’s circumstances so with mine currently being an urban dweller, I would choose FK, HDFK and my UF. It feels weird to me to let go of my choppers, LC, MC, BC and also to leave out the Shiv... also letting go of my EDC1 / EDC2, bit like I had said if one was absolutely forved to owning 3, those stated earlier would be on my top shelf...

What would you hooligans choose and why?
