Random Thought Thread

Gus, that Double edge with Brushed Satin Finish and Cocobolo Scales is absolutely beautiful! Wonder what version (Finish-single edge, Double edge etc. Nathan is going to offer?)

Thanks Tom. That was Nathan’s personal concealed carry UF. I sure would like to add another double edged UF to my collection. However, if they are offered in a Friday sale, I won’t have chance.

Not so random since all now revolves around my new HDFK, but that finger choil is a work of art.
Functional beautiful art.

Yep! I was just on another forum discussing this very thing on this very knife. I usually have a mild disdain for finger choils and avoid them. Conversely, this one is quite functional and perfectly done, and I can't imagine this knife without it.

Yessir! The ergos and the size of that choil makes it extremely practical to choke up extremely close to the heel of that blade, allowing that mid size knife to be used like a knife with a smaller blade in addition to the ability to make great power cuts because of the torque which one can generate.

I don't generally like what I've seen on many knives of the execution of a finger bay forward of the guard, which is why I designed one into the HDFK. Its utility is undeniable, and should never be added as an afterthought, since encouraging people to hold a knife by the blade comes with a risk if improperly designed. One could even say that the whole HDFK design started with that finger bay as the primary design challenge.

So...reading the above posts make me feel that all is good in the world!*
