It sure is big and beasty, I completely agree. In fact thats the only reason i sold mine. I like shorter blade lengths, around 4.5"-5". Hdfk is perfect other than being to big (for me).

I think the secondary market is just reacting to news of the fk2 and other chopper releases later in the year.
The HDFK for me is spot on size and balance wise. I keep a ruler handy to help visualise proportions before buying any knife which I find eliminates surprises.

Perhaps the market is finally getting close to meeting the demand. I think anybody who wants an EDC can get one, and ditto the HDFK. FKs, MCs, and older patterns are still fetching a bit of a premium, though. I wonder what a potato knife would go for? (No, I'm not selling mine! It gets used ever day.)

I was handling my HDFK and decided to compare it to my Swamp Rat R6. Surprise! They are the same size and the HDFK feels lighter, so I weighed them. The R6 weighs 14.4 oz. and the HDFK weighs 12.4 oz. The grip of the HDFK is a bit fatter. Both are comfortable.

Those R6s are a beast of a blade at .26 ish thickness
