I'm not going to accuse him of being dishonest there. Accusing a real service member of stolen valor is a pretty shitty thing and I won't risk it. But, the Green berets that I have met have been pretty low-key and very intelligent. Definitely not prone to cunty outbursts. And not the sort of folks that would use "I'm a green beret" as a part of an argument on the internet. I mean, that's just weird. I'm not calling him a liar, but he certainly is acting different than the Green berets that I have known. This kind of behavior is not a good representation of these servicemen and I would wager that most would be embarrassed by this.

I agree 100%. I have a LOT of service members in my family so I am a bit sensitive to the subject of stolen valor. As such, there is a standard I have come to expect with regards to how those in the service comport themselves but I am also very careful about not levying accusations - difficult to prove one way or the other on the internet.

I appreciate the support, Nate, but he's already been hoist with his own petard...(not a combat engineer I guess)...and I chalk it up to having no interlocutor between brain and keyboard.

He's been permanently banned at the moment, but I wouldn't be averse to giving a second chance. (Though he took a step backward last night by trying to register a duplicate account which I rejected.)

We'll see how things flow from here.

You're better man than I, Elliot. If you want to give him another chance, obviously that's your prerogative. But if he comes back on my forum I'll ban him myself.
