Someone hacked the Facebook account for one of my son-in-law’s Facebook friends.

They posted a camper trailer for sale at a very low price. I contacted them and asked a bunch of questions, and got suspicious it was too good to be true. Meanwhile the hacker went to my son-in-law’s account and learned everything he could about him.

So when I started to ask them questions about my son-in-law, they knew the answers in a real time live chat, without having to take lengthy pauses to look up the answers. So I trusted them enough to put down a $200 deposit on the trailer. And proceeded to make plans to meet with them that weekend when we were supposed to go up to Denver anyway.

To delay things, they stayed off-line until after our trip to Denver, And then contacted me give me the address when it was too late. At that point, I was still very suspicious and contacted my son-in-law who knew their name but could not remember anything about them from high school. The account owner had no idea their account was hacked.

Never got my money back. PP threatened to close my 25 year old account with balances on my two PP credit accounts due upon demand IF I filed a a dispute with my CC company.

I had somebody today who canceled their K20 pre-order due to "personal reasons"

Despite the fact there are no cancellations. Plain as day, could not be more clear. I'm pretty sure I said I would keep their deposit and use it for beer money. I need to be more clear if we do another pre-order.

And I'm just going to go ahead and eat the PayPal fees, which are not trivial, but if I made him pay them then he'd be pissed off like that Canadian that went out there to trash my reputation for no good reason because USPS lost his order. So I'll just eat it.

This guy is in Germany.

And this is why I no longer sell there. I put the stipulation in the last pre-order, no more foreigners. Because it's always a foreigner. I'm done with it. We have some good foreign customers and we will happily continue to serve them. But I don't want any new foreign customers. They're always the ones that make this model not work and I don't want to do it anymore. I don't know what it is with foreign cultures but there seems to be, almost universally, a lack of accountability, a lack of personal responsibility, a lack of honor that you just don't see with Americans.

Americans rock.

And don't get me wrong I'm not disparaging every person in the world who is not an American. That is absolutely not what I'm trying to say here. I think most people are awesome, including folks in other countries.

But almost every American that I have interacted with is awesome and they make a lot of the people that I interact with in other cultures look pretty lame by American standards.

A small percentage of our sales are overseas, and those sales are disproportionately problematic and they are literally not fiscally worth it.

Summary: This is why I'm done shipping overseas. Large percentage of self entitled assholes who feel like the clearly spelled out terms and conditions do not apply to them.

I think that you are out about 5% nonreversible fees plus the 0.35 Euro which PP will not refund you just because you are refunding the German "customer". So here is my offer, as a foreigner, I will reimburse you if you accept my proxy hug by Mike's +1? This is a great offer of a deal man!

I'm out the administrative cost of taking and then canceling the order and probably a hundred bucks in PayPal fees.

But, when his order is complete, I can put it on an auction site and maybe make up some of that loss.
