So…..I’m half a glass into ……a glass of Tito’s. And playing with knives. Naturally …..

So I want a Carothers to carry under my vest. (Police). I currently carry an Entrek…double edge dagger. About a 6” blade. Slim profile. Last resort type knife.

Nathan have anything similar?
How easily can you access it in a tussle or from a grounded position?

(I was never in uniform for normal duty, and when I was on SRT, my knife was worn on the outside of my gear.)

Not currently

A double edged Utility Fighter (DEF) might work well for that.

Trialing almost any of CPK's smaller offerings with the scales removed may make for interesting science.

Thank you for your service!

Just curious, so OK to decline to answer, but would happen to you if you took one to your plate with a big chunk of sharp steel tucked under it?

I couldn’t tell you with scientific backing. Butttttt, other than slight bulging in ceramic / Kevlar / ar500 plates from numerous rounds I’ve seen taken in videos and my time in Iraq. Other than a slight depression which would be mitigated by any type sheath, the damage would be minimal.

Also, last resort doesn’t mean I’d purposely let someone pop a round off before I delete them. If I’m taking rounds. I’m more than likely laying hate. The purpose of a knife is where a firearm isn’t accessible. I.E. getting my brains beat in a physical confrontation where my sidearm isn’t an option.

I understand more than likely the probability of it injuring me in a motor vehicle accident is more likely than a fight for my life, but certain risk in life have been weighed and measured and I like my odds of carrying it vs it being a liability.

Thank you for the detailed response. There’s always a risk/reward equation to everything we do. I was just curious how much actual risk there was, if any.

that's pretty much exactly what DEK3 was designed for

It’s now used, I’ll give you $100 bucks for it with the cryo treatment.
😉
Yeah, it was apparently pretty well ruined by that dip in the snow. 🤦‍♂️ I tossed it out into my aunt’s pasture this evening trying to hit a stupid coyote. Looked like it just bounced off the little bugger and broke into several pieces. I don’t know why Nathan would do me like that. 😲 🥸

Heck yeah! I'll be outside of Gypsum this week for the start of third rifle and have been hoping for snow.
This is an upslope storm (low pressure, counter-clockwise flow with moisture coming in from the east), so we typically get a lot more snow on the East slope than they do out on the West slope. That said, I don’t know if they got anything out that way or not. There’s another storm coming in Friday that might bring some. Could also possibly dump another foot here… 🥶 😩

I sometimes hunt 4th Rifle up just North of Meeker. However, since the bad winter kill a few seasons ago, most all license codes were reduced to only 10 tags per hunt code (some of these hunts had over 1,000 tags available before) in most of the NW part of the state. Haven’t even attempted to go back up there yet. I’m not Elk hunting at all this year. o_O  (Lots of reasons…)
