Random Thought Thread

I'm pretty excited about the terminal performance of this Automag chambered in .45 Winchester Magnum firing an Underwood 230 grain hollow point moving at approximately 1600 ft per second.

I am waging an unholy jihad on the squirrels here. I have my reasons.

I've never seen anything impart this much energy and blow up a squirrel this impressively, including high power rifles.

I have attached the images but I won't embed them. Don't click on them if you don't want to see it.

It's f*cking bananas man.

Such a useless ridiculous impractical firearm. I've wanted one since I was a kid and it is every bit as cool as I thought it would be.

Pre-gutted… that’s awesome. All the meat is in the legs anyway. Perfect shot!

Thanks Nathan- I was perfectly happy with my .460 Rowland ballistics, until I saw your post and looked up the ballistics on the .45 WM. Sweet Baby Jesus that's one nasty round!

I wasn’t aware they made a .45 win mag. Seems like it would be more “practical” than their .30 carbine.

The appeal to me was large revolver power out of an auto. I was unfamiliar with the .45 Winchester Magnum. It's not a common round, you're not going to find it at Walmart. Fortunately Underwood, which is where I buy most of my ammunition, carries it and it's no more expensive than 10 mm.

I reload and I'm keeping my brass and .45 caliber projectiles are as common as dirt.

I used to have an uncle that worked for the oil industry and he would go out afield in Alaska so he carried a desert eagle .44 mag (EDIT, because of grizzly bears) and I always thought that was the coolest gun. But then there's the .45 auto mag.

45 mag is better than 44 mag. It's one more.

They chewed up my nice garbage cans. I got the good double wall rotationally molded commercial quality Toter cans so I could have a nice long-term set of cans. And they chewed them up.

And they chewed up my deck

And they chew the wiring in the attic of my shop down to bare metal and built little squirrels nests around them and tried to burn me down

But then they started chewing up the wiring in my Ford trucks. Do you know how difficult and expensive it is to keep a Ford truck running? Powerstroke diesels?

That was the final straw and I started war. It actually got where there were no squirrels near the house for a while but they're back now.

Yep... "Superior firepower... and that's all she wrote." 😅
