Who the hell uses a scalpel to remove sutures?

They don't just use toenail trimmers like everybody else?

The sutures were very fine and very snug. She couldn't get the tool into place so was essentially forced to use forceps to raise the thread enough to use the scalpel. I wasn''t going to second guess her decision, though I wasn't thrilled with the minor mishap. I don't think, in the scheme of things, it will create any real drama.

Sutures were in a hard to reach spot in the crease behind the ear.

Oh yeah. Sometimes you need to use some sidecutters-wirecutters.
