Ref: G&G MUDD Auto For Sale

This guy is asking $2345 for his used MUDD Auto. 😲

I owned a MUDD Auto before & regret trading it away BUT, while it's discontinued & G&G has said they'll never make another & while I haven't seen 1 offered for sale anywhere for years, the MUDD originally cost only $500 & $2345 will buy you a premium Deadlock, & while I'd never pay that much for any knife, if I was willing to do so , for that price, I'd buy a brand new Deadlock instead.🤷‍♂️

How's that for a run on sentence?

LOL!😎

Update: And the knife has already been SOLD!!!! Don't know if it was for that price or not but if it was that's pretty f*cking incredible!!!! 😮

So, looks like I'm never going to buy another MUDD back again. Oh well . . . 🤷‍♂️

You get UPS on Sunday?

ETA: or was it regular mail? Amazon is UPS, correct?
This was to be an Amazon delivery...with their people...generally in one of their Amazon labeled delivery trucks...and occasionally in a rental truck when they get behind, such as during the holidays.

However, this story gets weirder.

Last night just before 10 while my wife is watching the Lakers-Knicks game I decided I wasn't into it, nobody had come to the house, so I turned off the porch light and went to lay down in the bedroom and read.

All of a sudden I can swear I hear somebody driving or going down the driveway which leads down to the garages on the side of the house. (Not toward the porch.)

So, I get up with a light and other equipment and walk outside to investigate.

Two middle aged to senior African-American ladies in a private vehicle are driving up from the garage. One rolls down a window and says she left a package by the garage door. I guess she didn't see the area to park in front of the house, and it was pitch black outside with no lighting. GPS often directs toward the garage area for some reason.

Anyway, I thanked them, after expressing my surprise at the hour, (after 10), and a private vehicle, and they explained that Amazon calls them to pick up overflow when employees don't show up or they don't have enough vans or drivers.

I explained to them where they could go up the road and turn around to avoid ending up in a drainage ditch and wished them a pleasant night. They were very nice and we had a nice chat for a few minutes.

Since I was up, I just went ahead and installed the new seals in the two commodes I had planned to fix...much to the surprise of both my wife and my dog.

Wonder what time the new toilet seat will arrive today...

That sentence is long. Could be from my daughter.

We get the occasional private vehicle making Amazon deliveries as well. “Who’s this now…oh!”

I’ve found some plumbing parts are more expensive on Amazon than at HD. The extra day or two for HD deliveries is sometimes worth it.

On the topic of Amazon delivery clusterf###s;

Back in HS, I decided to get a pair of tractor bearings to use as Baoding balls. No idea what happened to them by the time I went to college. I liked that they weigh 1+ lbs each, vs the typical Asia mart hollow ones.

Decided to get another pair last week. Looked on Amazon and they had 2” steel ball bearings, so I ordered a pair. Supposed to arrive 2 weeks ago.

I get the notification on my phone that the Amazon driver is 10 stops away. OK. Glance at it every so often. 8 stops away, 4 stops away. “You’re the next stop”. The app will actually show a GPS map of the driver’s location. Map shows the driver stop at my house. Figured I’d get the “Delivered” notice.

Nope. Next time I check, I see a notice that says something like “Lost contact with the delivery driver”. 4 days later, still no package. My guess is the delivery driver actually stopped, picked up my package and thought, “Oh… this is HEAVY for something so small. Must be something good!”, and shut off their phone 😡

So I cancel the order (and noticed some reviews that noted they were disappointed at how quickly the chrome steel bearings began to rust). Looked and found 440 stainless steel 2” bearings for a higher price (also on Amazon). Ordered those.

Supposed to be delivered last week. Package was shipped from Louisiana. Whaddya know. Made it all the way to the MI warehouse, then suddenly disappeared. Now I see a notice that says “Package undeliverable and damaged. Returning to sender”. Gee, I wonder if some POS opened it to see what goodies were inside the small, heavy package? 😡

I don't think I'd ever pay that much for any knife. If it doesn't do something functional another blade can't do, it just doesn't have any value for me at that price. I believe in paying for quality, but I'm not much for buying scarcity. Admittedly, I'm not much of a collector though.

We all have our preferences/hobbies/priorities/circumstances though, so to each their own. One man's trash is another's treasure, etc.

I work for a shipping company. Part of my job every morning is unloading the shipping containers. The most damaged packages or ones missing components are the heavy/lopsided ones, improperly packed with whatever it is shifting around, eventually enough to birth its way out of the packaging.

Don't know if that's what happened in your case, but I've seen some bonehead pack jobs in the few years I've been there.

Here's one someone left in a drop box for me. No, your eyes do not deceive you, the person did indeed go overboard with three whole pieces of electrical tape.

While there’s always that possibility, the circumstances of the first delivery (non) attempt made me suspicious enough.

Watched the driver on the map, delivering other packages, until they got to my house, then suddenly, “Lost contact with the delivery driver”.

And the 2nd one making it all the way from Louisiana, through multiple hubs, only to disappear for a few days upon reaching the MI hub, and then a notice of “Undeliverable” several days later.

P.S.
Makes me wonder if Amazon sells individual cinder blocks or patio bricks with free delivery, and how many times one of those will disappear in transit, while I continually request a replacement? 🤭
