Random Thought Thread

Put air freshener or dryer sheet under the hood and change them every few months. It will keep the rodents away

Here, they just chew up the sheets and make them into a bigger nest.

Peanut Butter multiple traps, glue traps, and feeding the outside Feral/Night cats seems to work best.

The Cats do more damage control than any trap I have ever used.

We have 3-4 different Cats that come every night and patrol the entire yard, front and back. CCTV catches it all.

One has been a regular now for 6 years, and is huge, really huge, beautiful too.

I welcome them anytime.

Retired UPS Driver Retired UPS Driver - Sometimes it's Martens (or part of the family). Then the cats would be in trouble.

Agreed!

At my Northern Property, they are plentiful, and night cats are rarely caught on the camera traps, except the Bobcats.

Martins and Fishers are plentiful there, especially the small Ermine.

But here there is none, absolutely zero weasel (family) living at all (sad). Only competition at night is the Great Horned Owls, and luckily they also control the Skunk population quite well.

The skunks seem to be their preferred prey here, followed by rabbits, then small common rodents.

They roost and breed about 100 yards away, so I get a first hand view year around.

First week of July is really cool, as that is when they teach the new born to fly and start to hunt on their own. Very loud at night, but really cool to see and especially hear.

Quite rarely and occasionally a Coyote may run though, along with a Red Fox. Usually durn the breeding season.

By rarely I mean just 1-2 times each few years, it’s super rare to even see one.

The different birds of prey take care of the daytime problems, and the Owls and cats take care of the nighttime problems.

I’m more than happy with what they do here.

Nature is amazing, and I love it when it works in harmony. (Although it can get a bit noisy at times).

I forget, are you in Wisconsin or did my brain make that up?

I don’t know if peppermint oil will deter those little bastards in your neck of the woods, but it may be worth a try.
That is on my list of stuff to try, thank you.
Flip N Slide bucket trap and a little peanut butter. It will be a massacre.
I actually have one and have never deployed it...that is gonna change 😂

I'll toss a couple in, can't hurt! Thank you!

Thanks Blues Blues didn't even realize I was posting in ANAQ thread 🤪

Probably be needing a new set by next fall. Been looking at and strongly considering the falken at4's. Anyone have experience with those or the at3's?
I was down to the AT3’s after watching a boatload of YouTube reviews but ended up with the BFG Trail Terrain instead. Probably should’ve bought the Falken. 9 trips to 3 places trying to get them balanced properly, including a replacement tire- still couldn’t get them to roll right.
They weren’t too noisy and were softer than the stock GY Wranglers, but that was the extent of the pros. Eventually I was enough of a pain in the ass to the retailer and BFG that I was able to get them to exchange them for a set of Michelin MS2’s. They don’t look nearly as cool on the truck but the wet/ice/snow performance along with a smoother ride and improved MPG’s makes up for it. Never heard or read anything bad about the WildPeaks. Plenty of vids to help you decide between the 2. If you have 20 inch wheels avoid the BFG’s.

good call.
and we will patiently wait for you to post another random thought of regret soon 😁

There will be NO regrets there. I’ve been shaving my head my own head since I was 14. I don’t like my curly hair so I like to throw it in the trash once a month or so.

ETA - I don’t regret not paying for a haircut for 30+ years!
